As for the unrelated bumps elsewhere, i believe they be keratosis pilaris and may feel better with moisturizing lotion & creams, and sometimes better with exfoliation lotions. Need removal: Most often a hard painful masses on the neck could be an infected sebaceous cyst and needs to be treated with antibiotic if red or drained if fluctuant or excision if hard and not infected. Could be: Hair follicles can get inflammed, become tender and have pus without being infected (simple pimple). Often symptoms resolve within 1-2wk.
