Dr. Cornelia Franz answered:

My 7 year old daughter has one tonsil that is much larger than the other. No fever. No pain. Should I be worried? Is there a way to attach pictures?

No

Pain
If she is in pain and one tonsil is bigger then yes- she needs to be seen. If you are worried- then yes she needs to be seen. Sometimes one is bigger than the other...a visit with your pediatrician and or ENT will give you peace of mind and that is worth a lot.

Dr. Ryan Phasouk answered:

Are holes in tonsils normal?

Crypts are normal

Stringio
It may be normal to have some discharge or tonsillar exudate, that resides in crypts within the tonsils. These deep ridges are just a characteristic of tonsils.

Normal to have only one tonsil?

Not usually

Dental_care
An adult with one tonsil or asymmetric tonsils without a good explanation may require a biopsy to rule out malignancy. Do see your local ENT for a good examination.

Dr. John E. McClay answered:

Both tonsils looks like its shrinking and have holes in it, is this normal?

In childhood

Occupation
At birth, your tonsils and adenoids (T&A) are small and your immune system is immature. Your T&A are immunological structures and make antibodies to pathogens, like bacteria and viruses; so as you grow, they grow and enlarge, doing their job. Our immune system is relatively mature at 5 to 7 years of age, when the T&A peak in size. They then usually shrink to become small again by preteen/teenager

Is it normal for tonsils not to have a smooth appearance ?

Yes

Ent_and_head_and_neck_surgery
The lining is usually not smooth and has many crypts . Need to see your otolaryngologist if appearance changes or if one side looks different than the other.

Is it normal to be constipated after having your tonsils removed?

No

178911597
Your constipation is caused by the same problem for which your tonsils were removed. I know that this sounds strange but I would be willing to bet lousy diet is the underlying cause of both.

Dr. Mike J. Bowman answered:

What do people normally get a tonsil cyst from?

Not sure

Baby_babbles
"Tonsil cyst" isn't a medical term, so it is hard to know exactly what you are talking about. Tonsil stones or "tonsilliths" are collections of food and infection which are whitish and are common. They cause bad breath, and sometimes reflect chronic tonsillitis.
