What is left parietal hematoma? Is parietal hematoma and subdural hematoma same?

What is left parietal hematoma? Is parietal hematoma and subdural hematoma same?

Different: A hematoma is like a bruise or collection of blood from a trauma. In parietal hematoma this is in the parietal lobe of the brain, so it is in the brain tissue itself. A subdural hematoma is just under the dura mater one of the coverings of the brain so it is up close to the skull.

Subdural hematoma: If small and not causing a shift of brain structures in the skull, observation may be all that is necessary. If there is indication that the subdural hematoma is growing or causing symptoms due to increased pressure in the head, surgical drainage is the treatment.

I have a history of blood clots and had a subdural hematoma a year ago. Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a stem cell procedure for my back a bad idea?

I have a history of blood clots and had a subdural hematoma a year ago. Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a stem cell procedure for my back a bad idea?

Please read this: Article on approved uses of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy vs. False claims of its efficacy. I'm not sure I understand what you've been told it will help, but it doesn't help " back problems" or a bleeding diathesis. It does, however, have potential side effects, some serious. See: www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm364687.htm for the 13 approved uses for HBOT, false claims & side effects.

What is the duration for the physical therapy treatment for cervical disk herniations, and is physical therapy needed, or home exercises are enough?

What is the duration for the physical therapy treatment for cervical disk herniations, and is physical therapy needed, or home exercises are enough?

Highly individual: Many, if not most, patients will benefit from physical therapy as part of conservative therapy for a herniated cervical disc. Pain control medicines, muscle relaxants & anti-inflammatories are first line.Physical therapists can instruct in avoiding painful positions & appropriate exercise as well as treat with ice/heat, traction, ultrasound, TENS, bracing. Home therapy follows after a few sessions

What is treatment for ilotibial band burning and pain after physical therapy didn't help?

What is treatment for ilotibial band burning and pain after physical therapy didn't help?

Difficult: This is a tough one. Itb symptoms can be very difficult to treat and often times persistent pt and time are the best answer. Topical nsaids such as voltaren gel or Flector Patch (diclofenac) may help. Consider massage therapy. Tens units (electrical stimulation) sometimes help. Lastly, local steroid injections are an option as well.

My doctor sent me to physical therapy. I didn't want to delay treatment so I could find the costs. Should have to pay thousands for 4 hours of pt?

My doctor sent me to physical therapy. I didn't want to delay treatment so I could find the costs. Should have to pay thousands for 4 hours of pt?

Shop around: If you are paying out of pocket for pt shop around for the best care with the cost being a consideration. The referring doctor should be able to refer you to several different therapy places they have sent patients to before. "thousands" implies the cost for 4 hours is at least $2000 meaning 500/hour that seems a bit steep (to be diplomatic). ;-).

What is the physical therapy protocol in treatment of a total hip replacement?

Walking and more: Physical therapy is central to recovery. Standing and walking, with assistance, is usually started within 24 hrs. Beyond that, specific therapy protocols are tailored to the individual patient. In general, exercises are chosen to strengthen and stretch muscles like stair climbing and bending. Cycling and swimming, not running, are often introduced within months. Talk with your doctor for specifics.

Lots of exercise: You will need to strengthen the muscles around your hip. You will lift it in multiple directions, and walk on it ("weight bear") to get used to the new conditions. You may get on a stationary bike to aid in motion. You may have some motion precautions in the early stages, depending on the surgeon's approach to the hip.

Which treatment for sciatica--injections or physical therapy is the very best?

Which treatment for sciatica--injections or physical therapy is the very best?

Integrate: The cause for the sciatica should be delineated first. Physical therapy is an important first step in most cases. In more severe or refractory cases, injection is indicated. In my opinion, the combination of injections and physical therapy is likely to be more effective than either one alone.
