Physical Symptoms Of Fatty Liver
Does hep b increase chances of having a fatty liver? Should I take metformin for diabetes & fatty liver issues? What're symptoms of fatty liver?
Answers: Fatty liver and hep. B are two different things. Hepatitis b doesn't increase your chance for fatty liver, but fatty liver promotes destruction of the liver cells and thus makes the destruction done by hepatitis b virus worse. Metformin is ok to take for fatty liver. Signs of fatty liver are minimal if any. Usually we see elevation of liver enzymes and other tests including viral hep ones are -. ...Read more

Last physical showed possible Fatty Liver. This whole week had pain in right abdomen/back. Ultrasound results pending. How concerned should I be?
Need other tests: You need imaging and lab tests to confirm that.....the pain not necessarily from your fatty liver....however, most fatty livers....particularly early on and depending on the type of fat and the causes.....are reversabl....go and check it out.....discuss with your doctor including diet, exercise, weight loss etc ...Read more

There's yellow rings around my eyes. I have so symptoms- what could this mean (fatty liver disease, etc.)?
A few thoughts: Is it new? If within the sclera/whites of the eye: could be pinguecula. If within iris: could be sign of Wilson's disease. Around the eyes could be a sign of swelling (allergy, kidney problems, medication side effects etc.). Diffuse scleral yellowing or skin yellowing could be several liver abnormalities, pancreatic disease, or blood disorder involving red cells or platelets. ...Read more
After my physical I found out that I have a fatty liver. Is there any suggestions to help me clean out my liver. Does vitamin C and B12 help? Thanks.
They don't help.: The best thing to do is to eat a healthy diet, with emphasis on weight loss if you are overweight. You should also avoid regular use of medicines known to be toxic to the liver, such as Tylenol, (acetaminophen) and particularly avoid alcohol. Keep regular followup with your doctor for periodic checks on your liver. Good luck! ...Read more

Worry always goes with concern!
Please focus on the Headache and Migraine and have a Psychologist take care of you.
Not only will you be better over time, you will pass this on to many family and friends.

Are spider vein a symptom of fatty liver. Alt 64. Ast 50. I have noticed a few small spider like veins on my chest area.
No: Spider angiomata are one of the commonly recognized stigmata of cirrhosis of the liver. They are red skin lesions composed of a central arteriole surrounded by many smaller vessels. There cause might be an alteration in sex hormone metabolism. Though "spiders" are linked with cirrhosis they are not specific for it, and can be seen in other conditions including pregnancy and healthy people. ...Read more
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver, 5 Peptic Ulcers, elevated gastrin level Are these three things related what can be done to relief symptoms? Wait to see GI dr
Gastrin: Markedly elevated gastrin levels can be caused by certain tumors which also can cause multiple peptic ulcers. Milder elevations are caused by lack of normal stomach acids caused by use of ppi medications or by development of gastric atrophy. I don't think NAFLD is related. Your gastroenterologist will order appropriate tests to determine the cause of your elevated gastrin levels. ...Read more
Positive ANA 1:40 titer. 40 yr old male, 5"9 185lbs. No symptoms, found incidentally. No family history. Only issues were 10.4 calcium & mild fatty liver although I don't drink and work out often. Should I be concerned?
About fatty liver:
Positive ANA is not of concern, but fatty liver is. Try to reduce weight (easier said than done).
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more
ALT is 115 and I'm itching. Had us ct and mri along with barrage of other blood tests. Other bloods normal. Scan show fatty liver. Itching a symptom?
Not yet: In liver disease, itching doesn't happen until you start getting conjugated hyperbilirubinemia. I'd look for some other cause -- it may be something as simple as sensitivity to your laundry detergent. Fatty liver in the absence of hepatitis C, Wilson's, and alcohol abuse is largely genetic; getting into intensive fitness may help a lot. Best wishes. ...Read more
Ana positive c3&c4 low triglycerides now high and dr said I had fatty liver due to weight gain no symptoms of lupus could it be causing fatty liver?
Whoa: Plenty of perfectly healthy, not just lupus-free, people have positive ANA especially at low titer, and lowish C3 and C4 (which are poor lupus screens anyway). Nothing says "lupus" to me, but I am very concerned about your fatty liver and weight gain. By far the best treatment for "nonalcoholic steatohepatitis" is to find some fitness activity you like and do a lot of it. Good luck. ...Read more
I feel pain under rib, not sharp, but feel discomfort, 5 days almost. No fever, vomiting. Now the pain has gone, 2 days. Are these symptoms indicate any serious issues? Had jaundice last 8 years ago! Visited dr. USG report indicates fatty liver.

A few ideas: Urine copper is a better way to rule out Wilson's. I trust hepatitis C was also negative. I'm not worried in the least about your lymph nodes; we see nodes like these all the time in healthy folks. Trusting you don't drink. Your fatty liver may just be your body's way of asking for a return to that fitness-focused lifestyle from your teens. Best wishes. ...Read more

U/S in 2008 and 2015 resulted in Fatty Liver. How often should LFT and U/S be repeated to monitor the Fatty Liver? How often??
Don't repeat: I would advise monitoring LFTs no more often than every 6 months. The US is not a sensitive way of monitoring fatty liver and therefore you don't need to repeat it. Even LFTs are not sensitive since you can have normal values with fatty liver and increased LFTs may be due to many other causes. ...Read more
