My 3.5 month old baby sleeps for max 45 min stretches at night. This doesn't seem normal for babies of this age. Is this bad for his development?
Will get by: Baby will do better than you with this. I would change the kid back to a more traditional night pattern. If you never allow the kid more than 2 hours of sleep at a time during the day, waking him to feed or whatever, you can get his deep sleep segment to go back to nights when you don't wake him.Don't feed prior to sleep, only feed on awakening. ...Read more
My wife just turned 32. Is she still at a good age for making babies? We've been trying for 2 years for baby #1.
Short answer, Yes: There is always a small %-age of pregnancies at any age that will have problems, whether spontaneous miscarriage or birth defects but the incident is low. However, the risk does rise with maternal age. Around 35, your md may want to monitor & evaluate a pregnancy more closely, but even then & into the 40's, the majority of pregnancies are not problematic. Follow w/ your md your efforts to conceive. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Does the corrected age always have to be factored in for assessing development of preemie babies? (35 weeks)
Yes and No: Sorry for the confusing answer, but especially with those babies we call late preterm (after 34 weeks but before 37 weeks), development often is not very affected unless there were a lot of compounding problems with the birth. So if i was doc for a big, fat healthy 35 weeker, i would not always correct. More important s to follow closely over time and are they making appropriate progress. ...Read more

Many consider the rate of down syndrome births as a marker for age & childbearing.Risks are lowest in the early 20's at about 1/2000 with a gradual increase in risks that hit 1/100 at 40 & 1/12 at 50.There is a baseline risk of about 4% of an unexpected outcome with any pregnancy. The ds risk must be added as age related risk. Discuss with your doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

It is possible: Most primary (baby) teeth begin to appear at 4 to 6 months and are all erupted around age 2 1/2. Of course there is variability; if there are extra (supernumary) teeth they may appear at unexpected times/. ...Read more
