What is head bobbing means. Worried about that in my 10 m old otherwise normal healthy baby with development milestones met. Ped assured not infantile s?

Though there are: Many fairly benign causes of head-bobbing I'd be uncomfortable reassuring any parent without pediatric neurological & ophthalmological evaluations. Spasmus nutans alone, e.g., starts between 4 mos-3 yrs. & often resolves on its own. It's accompanied by nystagmus, rapid eye movements. Gastroesophageal Reflux is another possibility. I'd look into it a bit more.

When can I expect my preemie to reach development milestones?

When can I expect my preemie to reach development milestones?

Might be delayed: Each baby reaches the developmental milestones at their own pace. Preemies can lag behind infants of the same age, but often catch up within the first to second year of life. Every baby's developmental curve is different. Remember, it's not a race. Enjoy each stage as it happens.

What are language development milestones that disqualify an autism diagnosis?

What are language development milestones that disqualify an autism diagnosis?

"Normal" language: Language is one of 3 domains of impairment for a child to qualify for a diagnosis of autism. Delayed language is an exclusion for asperger's disorder, but normal language (not counting problems with articulation (clarity of speech)) not just in terms of understanding and using words but also in using language to communicate with others age-appropriately would make autism most unlikely.

1year3month old baby boy. Jerks 2or3 times a day. Active and development milestones meti. Is this kind of jerks normal? Kindof jerk while urinating

Jerking Episodes: HellCat262243. The jerking described is not typical. Infants, particularly newborns, have a startle reflex, but it passes after several months old. Any type of jerking needs assessment with thorough questioning and I recommend an evaluation by a Neurologist. Video taping the episodes can further assist the Neurologist. If there are facial characteristics of fetal alc synd in a 6-mo-old but she meets development milestones & growth is good are there concerns?

If there are facial characteristics of fetal alc synd in a 6-mo-old but she meets development milestones & growth is good are there concerns?

Maybe: Obviously you have concerns because of facial features, but these do not have to be from fetal alcohol syndrome. The critical question is whether the infant was indeed exposed to alcohol during development. Any alcohol can be a problem! It is reassuring that milestones and growth are good. Keep close follow-up on these and follow healthy lifestyle choices-good diet once added, no smoking around child.

10m old baby boy. Development milestones met. Still does jerk few times a day for a month now and move head up down while playing. Worried if its seizure?

10m old baby boy. Development milestones met. Still does jerk few times a day for a month now and move head up down while playing. Worried if its seizure?

Query spasmus nutans: "Nodding spasms" is a rare condition that includes nystagmus, titubation, and torticollis (head tilt). Although common for infants to jerk once in a while, I consider a parental concern to be an important factor in the evaluation. The condition is benign and will self resolve. However, a complete evaluation by a pediatric neurology will put the matter to rest in order to rule out other conditions.

Is the timing of developmental milestones the same for all children?

No: No, not all children attain developmental milestones at the same time. Don't worry if your child takes an extra month or two to babble his first words, or take her first steps. All babies are different and attain their milestones at their own speed. You should worry if several months go by without attaining a specific milestone, or if your child appears delayed in attaining multiple milestones.

Should I be concerned about a delay in developmental milestones?

Should I be concerned about a delay in developmental milestones?

Yes concern is right: If you are talking about true delays, rather than reaching milestones at the later end of average, then yes it is right to be concerned and to find ways to help your child. Early motor delays can lead to coordination problems for writing and being active with peers. Delays in language has been shown to lead to problems with academics, esp. Reading, and social-emotional relationships.
