Dry?: Xerosis (dry skin) causes an ashy grey-white appearance at times. Other illnesses to be considered could include Argyria (silver toxicity), alkaptonuria (inherited metabolic disease) or Wilson's disease (abnormal copper metabolism). More educated suggestions could be offered through virtual consult and closer examination of skin and nails. ...Read more

Diagnosed with sinusitis. Had physical exam and blood work all good. A normal neuro exam but what does that mean?
Normal ct, neuro did physical exam, thinks I don't have ms. I have tingles (buzz), hands/feet, stiff extremeties, ears pop, a lil lightheaded, tension in hea?
Not typical MS: Firstly MRI is imaging of choice for ms, not ct. Secondly, symptoms you describe are very non-specific. Head tension and popping ears are definitely atypical. If it's not ms, what does your neurologist think it is? If you don't get a satisfactory answer, get a second opinion. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Finding brain tumor:
It's not common to find a brain tumor on a routine physical exam. The problem with brain tumors is that they may cause no symptoms or findings. So yes, a normal physical exam does not exclude the possibility of a brain tumor. But, a brain tumor is less likely to be found if the exam is normal.
Progressive neurological deficit or a first time seizure are suspicious symptoms of a brain tumor. ...Read more
Left neck pain when I turn head left or upward. It's been off-on for a few months, mostly "on" had unremarkable physical exam 2 months ago. Muscle?
Did blood work and urine sample for woman physical exam. Everything came back normal except for "hemoglobin 1+" in urine sample. What could this mean?
Possibilities...: This means there was a small amount of microscopic blood in the urine sample. One of the most common reasons for a female is having your menses at the time the sample was obtained. Another common reason is if a catheter was inserted to obtain the sample. If neither of these explains it, it might be best to repeat the urine test and pursue further tests if the blood is still present. ...Read more

Deep pelvic pain during sex. 7.5 mos after c-section. Is this normal? What can be done? Swab test and physical exam were ok. What could be the cause?

Can tingly chest feeling and weak left arm be sign of heart murmur. I had physical exam 8 months ago, everything normal.?
Can spinal meningitis at age 3 cause infertility in men? My husband has 0 sperm count. Bloodwork normal and physical exam normal.
Probably not: This depends of course on the causative agent of the meninigitis (? Mumps, coxsackie virus?, etc.) and whether was accompanied by orchitis (inflammation of the testes). It would be, however, quite unusual to result in aspermia even if it had been present. Hubbie needs to see endocrinologist. ...Read more
Hi doc. Last december when I took our annual physical exam I discovered masses in both my breast and throuh the ultrasound the finding is benign. Si?
Breast masses: Ultrasound being negative does not completely diagnose all forms of breast masses. Obtain a digital mammogram if the masses are still present to be more certain of their benign nature. Breast masses are common in a young woman, and are mostly benign at your age. Get the mammogram which will be reassuring to you. ...Read more
If scrotal trauma led 2 groin pain 2 inches diagonally above penile shaft and physical exam, usg, MRI all seems normal what can b the most likely cause?
Groin Pain & Trauma:
After the trauma, there might have been some bleeding around the testicle. This blood can track up the cord that attaches to the testicle and runs in the groin area.
Blood outside of its normal place (blood vessels) creates a great deal of pain and swelling. This can occur without bruising.
This would not likely be seen on xrays but be from physical exam. See a urologist if not better in 7-10 d. ...Read more

Sometimes my Thighs and arms bruise easily for no reason. Had physical exam 8 months ago w/ normal results. Could it be luekemia or something serious?
Get a recheck: Bruising means bleeding under the skin. There are many possible causes for it. You should go see your doctor who can check your CBC (complete blood count) and rule out any serious causes like Leukemia or any other disease like Leukemia which can affect (decrease) your platelet count or impair your platelet function (taking Aspirin is one such drug that can cause bruises due to platelet malfunction). ...Read more

Can I get an STD test while on my period? Is it normal for a doctor to refuse blood and urine testing to a patient, and only recommend a physical exam
Yes: Testing for STDs can be done while on your period. Some are done on blood drawn from your arm and others on urine or cervical swabs but bleeding does not prevent any of the testing. The only way to know why a physician would want to just do an exam and no blood or urine tests would be to ask that physician. Sorry I can't tell u what the other doctor was thinking. It may have been done to save money ...Read more
