Dermatitis: how long as he had it? Does it seem related to his belt? Is it itchy/painful, etc? does it look like hives? Could be contact dermatitis...but a picture would really help. Not really: You can, but a good derm exam is live. Texture that you can examine by touch helps in the diagnosis as well, and sometimes you will need a Wood's lamp, a biopsy, a scraping, a culture, even bloodwork. Docs will be hesitant to diagnose by photo, which is admittedly a little ironic given that we all invested in pricey Dermatology textbooks full of photos in medical school/residency.
