Phenylalanine Cause Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more
How many of sugarfree gums which contain phenylalanine cause loose stool? On label says excessive use, but I have feeling that even 1 for me is enough
Amino acid, no-maybe: You need phenylalanine in your diet as it is one of the essential amino acids that you cannot make. However, in this case the reason it is likely listed on the package is because the product probably has aspartame (an artificial sweetener that contains phenylalanine) in it and by law foods with aspartame must list it to warn people with the rare disease phenylketonuria that it has phenylalanine. ...Read more

An Amino Acid: Phenylalanine is possibly safe for most people. Having too much phenylalanine during pregnancy can increase the chances of birth defects especially facial, nervous system and heart defects. Patients suffering from phenylketonuria must avoid phenylalanine as it can cause mental retardation, high blood pressure and strokes. In schizophrenics, it can make tardive dyskinesia (movement disorder) worse. ...Read more
It's been brought to my attn that its bad to take both methylphenidate and phenylalanine. Is it safe for me to be taking these medications together?
May be wrong med: Methylphenidate is a stimulant medication used to treat adhd and phenylalanine is an Amino Acid and is not a medication. Some people have problems with that Amino Acid because of a genetic disorder called pku but for most people it is not an issue. It would be unusual to have a standalone Amino Acid supplement like that but it would not be problem. If that is not what you meant ask again. ...Read more

What is the role of methionine in catabolism of phenylalanine and/or tyrosine? Can you please post any link about those two amino acids? Thank you
Methylation: When homocyateine is elevated there is problem with methylation. Methioneine, methyl folate, (folic acid) methyl cobalamine, and magnesium may all be helpful. Low blood pressure occurs with a histamine reaction. Vitamin c and bioflavanoids, copper avoidance and understanding histamine intolerance (google it) will help. Alcohol avoidance, frequent healthy meals, stress reduction, and frequent movement helps. ...Read more
Does the chemical phenylalanine effect metaprolol tartrate (25mg)? I want to drink those powdered teas that you put in the water but I'm concerned.
I want to boost dopamine level. So what's the difference among the three supplement : L Tyrosine, L-Dopa (Mucuna) and L-Phenylalanine?
Stimulants: They belong to precursors and drugs used for weight loss, asthma and congestion. Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid. Ephedrine (ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) sulfate) is useful for bronchial asthma, but pseudo ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) is useful in rhinitis. Amphetamines are a group of stimulants useful for attention deficit, and less frequently as a stimulant, which can be addictive. Ephedrine (ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) sulfate) and pseudo-ephed in synthesis of methamphetamine. ...Read more
My dr prescribed me methylphenidate 27mg which made me sleepy. My dr then prescribed me phenylalanine 37.5mg for fatigue. Are these meds ok together?
Not phenylalanine: I think you mean phentermine. There is a risk of cardiovascular and CNS stimulatory effects between the two with possible additive toxicity. If you are getting that sleepy on methylphenidate (mp), my practice style would be to have you stop the mp, review for a primary sleep disorder such as sleep apnea as a cause for the adhd. If negative, I would try a different stimulant, one at a time. ...Read more
23+4 pregnant. On occasion (3x week), I take a shake as snack that contains phenylalanine. I don't have pku and avoid other sources. Harm to me/ baby?
Unlikely to happen: If you do not have pku your body knows how to handle phenylalanine (phe). It will convert any not needed for normal body maintenance into non-toxic material. Your blood phe level will not rise with exposure and thus not be any risk to your fetus. You can eat foods with phe and not worry about it. ...Read more

I am taking g a range of supplements that I have chosen to help with what I belive to be Fibromyalgia. I am concerned that they may be detrimental if taken together. I am taking inositol ltyrosine dl phenylalanine vitamin d magnesium GABA maca and a b10
Not really: 36 y female has self-diagnosed Fibromyalgia & takes variety of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Taking these simultaneously should be no problem; perhaps best with meal for gradual absorption. Should not exceed more than 0.5 gm per day of anyone amino acid. See Rheumatologist for diagnosis & to rule out another diagnosis for symptoms — see comments below about the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. ...Read more
