Would it be safe to take phentermine, topamax, (topiramate) and thermoplus together? I just got a personal trainer and she is totally against me taking phent & top
Trust your trainer: You are paying for the expertise and experience of a professional - so use it. Furthermore, I think the advice is correct. Medications may have a beneficial, even life-saving use in disease management, but you are not ill. Your body and budget will be much healthier w/out those items. A good exercise and diet plan followed w/ patience and pleasure is the way to go IMHO. Best 2U! ...Read more

Currently take Topamax & Phentermine daily. Any potential side effects as my wife and I try to conceive? Took about 3 months for 1st child (pre-meds).
Topomax/phentermine: That combo-marketed as Qsymia has a MAJOR educational effort around pregnancy as the drug is a pregnancy category X meaning it SHOULD NOT be used during pregnancy - at least in females. In males- my best recommendation is STOP it - for at least 3 months prior to planning a baby - once she is pregnant you can resume it (if you are taking it) I would NOT risk birth defects for some weight loss. ...Read more
Started taking phentermine 15mg 1 a day and topamax (topiramate) 25mg 2x/day 4 days ago. When will it start to curb my appetite?
That depends: Topamax (topiramate) is fda approved for migraines prevention and certain kinds of seizures. The side effect can be weight loss. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant used together with diet and exercise to treat obesity. Depending on your exercise regimen and diet, you may start noticing some weight loss in a few days. Neither are magic pills though and you need to be motivated. Good luck. ...Read more
What % of people taking qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) lost >15 pounds in the first 3 months? What was the overall average pounds lost by each person on the qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) study?
Complicated answer: There were 3 trials involving Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) and depending on how the authors analyzed the data, the degree of weight loss was different. In the equip study, one analysis showed a 5% weight loss at 52 weeks on the lower dose of qsymia (phentermine and topiramate). But this was in severely obese people (bmi>35) so the effects may not be applicable to lower bmi people. Talk with your doc about risks/benefits, and if right for you. ...Read more

Grapefruit may thus increase the levels of topiramate in your body and its risks. It is best to avoid eating/drinking grapefruit and its juice while taking Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate). ...Read more

I would like to get a prescription for Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) on line. Is that possible?
Think long-term.: Short term risks and potential for abuse aside, the biggest flaw that I see with weight loss medications like this is the return of overweight once the pill is stopped. You really can't take these pills forever, and once stopped weight gain usually occurs, sometimes to or beyond your original weight. Again, quick fixes tend not to work in the long term. Be sensible and patient. ...Read more

Yes, in Some: Though Topamax (topiramate) was originally used only as an anti-epileptic & migraine medication, it is becoming popular as a weight loss medication. Is it safe to take Topiramate, Zoloft and phentermine together. I have read that it is since its call phenpro but not fda approve can you please advis?
Pharmacist: Your pharmacist can be very helpful in answering this question or any other questions about your medications. I would be concerned about taking Zoloft along with phentermine as I would be worried about possible hyperactivity or agitation with this combination. I would defer to the opinion of the pharmacist or your psychiatrist, if you are being treated by one, however. ...Read more

How should qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) be prescribed? My husband is 30 pounds over weight and our doctor wrote a perscription for the highest dosage. This seems incorrect
Usually titrated up: Hi. Usually the dose of Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) is titrated up, but I suppose if he tolerates the highest dose right off the bat and has a clinical response, it's OK. Talk with the doctor or speak with your pharmacist. Maybe the doc has had favorable experience starting right off at the highest dose. ...Read more

Healthy 50 y/o female., 30mg of Paxil almost a year/menopause "madness" I call it. Gained 50lbs 9 months Dr won't prescribe qsymia (phentermine and topiramate). Why not? .
Risk vs benefit: No such thing as free lunch. Likewise, no medication (or even dietary supplement or herb) is w/o potential side effect (s). Decision to prescribe any drug is based upon whether desired benefit exceeds potential risk. Check out http://www. Drugs. Com/sfx/qsymia-side-effects. Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate): Hi. Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) is a decent weight loss drug. Your BMI is 47.5, and Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) has not been shown to be effective in a similar patient population as far as I'm aware. Not so new: Dr's have used this drug (combo of 2 generics changed into an er). It's a safe & effective medication when used in the right person for the right amount of time. Note that safe does not mean without side effects. It should be used for no more than a few months along w/ ongoing lifestyle changes (dietary modification, exercise). The key is maintaining that lifestyle change once med stopped. ...Read more

Could the new drug combination of phentermine and topomax (Quisimya, or something like that) help with Migraines? Stimulants worked well in the past,
Yes. . . or no. .: We have used Topamax (topiramate) alone for quite some time for the treatment of migraines. It is used in an attempt to reduce the frequency and severity of migraines. Stimulants (used mainly as short term appetite suppressants) do have the potential to make headaches worse, in some people. So, there is really no way to anticipate how you would respond without trying it--if that is what your doctor had prescr ...Read more
