Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more

I am a 37 year old female who is suffering from a throat (oral) yeast infection.? s: how long do symptoms last and how can I never get this again?
Thrush: Thrush is never normal and requires a cause, like taking antibiotics, taking oral steroids, using a steroid inhaler or topical spray, or underlying disease like immunodeficiency. Make sure you know the cause and avoid, minimize, or treat it. In meantime you need anti fungal medication to prevent progression of the candidal infection to 'esophagitis' for example. At minimum nystatin or Diflucan (fluconazole).
Sinus issues: Have you tried decongesting and using a nasal rinse

I am a massive smoker aged 24, I fall sick (fever, cold, throat infections) regularly in a span of 2 to 3 months, is this a symptom for something big?
You answered. ....: ....your own question. You said "massive" smoker. Doesn't that sound like something BIG? Smoking really does cause cancer, as well as chronic bronchitis, COPD, and a bunch of other stuff that may not be very pleasant later on. Now at 24, you are getting throat infections every couple of months. Soon it will be acute bronchitis and pneumonia every few months. Stop smoking now-SaveYourLife!

I don't know of my theometer had mercury. The thermometer is glass. I'm taking meds because I have throat infection. I'm afriad. I have no symptoms yet?
Don't panic: First, if the thermometer is not broken then any potential mercury is trapped inside and can not harm you. Second, it the thermometer did break and it did have mercury inside your individual exposure would be very, very low not enough to be a problem with just one exposure. If you are really concerned bout future use, buy a new digital thermometer.
I'm having cold symptoms now. Having slight headache and throat infection. Please advice how to stop sinus infection as I usually get after this.
What do you suggest if my throat is itchy. I thought it could be a possible yeast infection rather than symptoms of an STD since the?
I have had extremely sore ears and neck (near mastoid bone). However I also exhibit no symptoms of a infection e.G swelling, fever, fluid in ear?
Both sides?: Do both of your ears hurt? How about your nose? Do you have any other symptoms? It is possible you have a nonspecific viral infection. Rarely, a disease called relapsing polychondritis can present with these symptoms.

Can laryngitis be treated? About 6 days ago I developed a sinus infection and sore throat. After 2 days those symtpoms vanished, but now have had laryngitis for 4 days. How can I treat this?
Laryngitis: The cure for acute laryngitis is unfortunately as elusive as the cure for common cold. Both respond best to home remedies as medical science has for now nothing better to offer. For laryngitis allow voice rest, hot thick drinks like warm milk or tea with honey, hydration/humidification, let it run its course - should resolve within 2 weeks.See 1 more doctor answer
How can I treat laryngitis? I have recently had a sinus infection and sore throat. Those symptoms lasted only a couple of days, but have had laryngitis for 4 days. Is there something special I could be doing to help and how long could this last?
Not much: Acute laryngitis following a an upper respiratory tract infection (sore throat, ? Sinusitis) is almost always viral. Laryngitis is secondary to post nasal drainage leading to swelling of the vocal folds (laryngitis). Fluids, vitamin c and let your immune system eradicate the virus. If you are not significantly better in 10 to 14 days, see your physician.See 1 more doctor answer
