I am 24 yrs old male, my stool analysis have the pH value alkaline pH8.0, and it have 1-3 pus cells, are these values in the normal range?

Normal, irrelevant: Despite advice you can find on line, "stool analysis" is not recommended except specific tests for particular problems in people with symptoms or otherwise at high risk for certain digestive or intestinal disorders. In a healthy person without symptoms, these findings are meaningless. See your doctor if you have symptoms like unexplained diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc. Otherwise no worries. ...Read more

My 2 yr has hi pH in his stools and the acidity has been causing rashs &fungus in his skin. 3/4 stools daily & not all diarrea. Lactose intolerance?

Unlikely: A high ph is alkaline, not acid. Any diarrhea can cause diaper rash. There are many causes of diarrhea at this age - infection, malabsorption, celiac etc. Please follow up with your doctor; see a ped GI specialist if recommended. Meanwhile clean with soft cloth and soap/water, and use appropriate antibiotic or antifungal ointment for the rash. Lactose intolerance is uncommon under age 6. ...Read more

I think I have acidosis. I have all the signs an symptoms. Ph tested my stool, urine, saliva an all were abnormal. Could this be signs of damaged kidneys?

Kidney failure?: The best way to assess your kidney function is with a simple blood test that will give you your serum creatinine level as well as your co2, potassium and BUN levels. If these are normal, you do not have an acidosis and no kidney disease. If they are not, see a nephrologist to assess your kidney function. Good luck. ...Read more

Dietary modification: The test results you provided are not meaningful. It is difficult to provide useful advice without examining you and taking a detailed history. You need to eliminate foods you suspect to be causing the symptoms. Start with eliminating milk and milk products as lactose intolerance is not uncommon. If that does not work, consult a doctor or a nutritionist.

Urine dipstick test shows pH of 7.0 and traces of leukocytes and protein. She prescribed Macrobid I went in for loose stools and back and pelvic pain. Should I take the medication

No: Trace leucocytes & trace protein are within normal limits & may be simple contaminants such as from vaginal epithelial cells. Presumably nitrite was negative which would have indicated baceria in your urine. Urine culture from a mid stream specimen, separating labia to avoid contamination, after cleansing with soap towlettes, would be more definitative for uti. That way you and your dr. Would know. ...Read more

My stool is very red (twice now) but I had red velvet cookies about 6 hours ago. Is this likely the cause?

Maybe, but..: If your stool is red, it could be due to food color, however blood does this too. If there is blood on the toilet paper I would go to the ER. Otherwise if it is from the cake it should clear up in a day. The only strange thing is that the stool should not turn red 6 hours after eating the cake. That's the confusing part. Keep a close eye on it and if it persists head the ER or Urgent Care ...Read more

My 6 year old doughter has had a loose smelly stool for about a week, she goes once or twice a day at the most and has no other simptoms.

Not to worry: She may have had a little touch of a stomach virus and this can cause a mild problem with digestion of certain things in the diet for a little while. The most common things to have difficulty digesting that would cause loose smelly poop are simple sugars like sucrose, lactose and fructose. While you don't need to abstain from them altogether, limit amounts and as long as no other symptoms, relax. ...Read more
