It may: Kojic acid is an agent that helps to decrease darkly pigmented areas. Retin a (tretinoin) along with the kojic acid can augment the effectiveness in reducing areas of hyper pigmentation. Despite Keratosis Pilaris (KP), I'm getting a tattoo. Once the tattoo heals, will exfoliation (loofah/body scrub/AmLactin lotion) harm the tattoo?
Unlikely: I'm a tattoo buff and have three of my own. Get it ONLY if it's something you've wanted for several years in exactly the form you're getting. Tattoos are in the dermis and keratosis pilaris is a curious epidermal illness. I hope that your choice of design is one that's deeply meaningful, and I admire your courage in asking. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

And the question is?: The top layer of skin cells may peel off after a 2-4 days, after any inflammation (such as skin swelling, a sunburn, a friction burn, or perhaps waxing). There are also other maintenance treatments with facials and peels that can help as well. The combination of lasers, products, and maintenance is the best option for you. ...Read more
Will st. Ives scrub for blemish and blackhead clearing work effectively on keratosis pilaris (arms)?
A little for some: The st ives product is trying to exfoliate (shed) the skin "naturally". Exfoliation is a great way to treat kp, but the natural items are not really the strongest, so some may not respond. Alpha-hydroxy acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid or urea moisturize and soften dry skin while exfoliating. Apricots are supposed to have vitamin a to help, but I use it directly- retin a (tretinoin) is another product. ...Read more
Best treatment for oily skin with mild acne and brown spots (post-acne), glycolic or alpha hydroxy products?
Maybe: Keratosis pilaris is an unrelenting condition that never goes away. Lasers don't actually work get rid of it. However, microdermabrasion, ipl, and fractionated lasers can help to flatten it out and make it appear better. In theory, if you remove hair follicles the keratosis pilaris can't occur but I have not seen great results. ...Read more
