What is a treatment of petechiae caused by sjogren's syndrome and vasculitis? Does it go away without any treatment?
Petechiae: These are tiny bruises and will go away on their own. The more important question is whether the underlying disease is being adequately treated. Discuss this with your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer

Can petechiae be caused by hard scrubbing of the skin with a skin brush? Because when I started scrubbing I noticed I started to get it the next days.
Not really likely: Petechiae is caused by broken capillaries in the skin. This is not really something that can be caused by scrubbing. It is also possible that what you have is not really petechiae and is maybe simple folliculitis. It is probably best to stop scrubbing and wash more gently. If this does not resolve then you should perhaps see you gp.
17 Y/O girl. Recently been bruising a lot easier on arms and legs, I've been getting itchiness on arms and legs causing Petechiae, doctors? Causes?
Yes: If a person's skin is rubbed hard enough, some of the tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin will break and appear as blood spots (petechiae). If a person is rubbing just one area of skin, and the petechiae appear just in that area, then the rubbing has caused the petechiae. If petechiae appear in non-rubbed areas, then another problem is causing them.
Hi, happy new year. Can hard scrubbing of the skin cause petechiae? And if yes, why does my petechiae keep coming and going, if I've stopped scrubbing
Probably benign: Petechiae are a small (1-2mm) red or purple spot on the body, caused by a minor hemorrhage (broken capillary blood vessels). Petechiae on the breast and not elsewhere is most likely caused by tight fitting bras or clothing. If it is recurrent and has no apparent cause (such as tight bras...), then you should see your doctor for a platelet count check.
No: I don't believe so. Here is an interesting report. Please see your family doctor asap. :vital signs: a stress case or a serious disease? - discover. .. Discovermagazine. Any diseases carried by mice in UK which could cause petechiae in humans? (my 10 month old daughter and my 3 year old son have a few, they are well)
Which diseases are carried by mice and cat fleas in UK which could cause petechiae in humans? (my 10 month old daughter and 3 year old son have a few)
Not many: Dog and cat fleas in the UK are generally not a source of transmission of serous diseases to humans. They can cause tape worm infestation which would have abdominal to be a sign of serious disease, one would expect the rash to change rapidly and kids wouldn't be feeling well in a short course. In any case, the kids need to be examined to be on the safe side.
Not necessarily, but: Petechiae are usually associated with a low platelet count. While long-term HIV infection can cause a variety of medical problems, petechiae is not a very common issue. When I see petechiae in an HIV patient, I usually get concerned about a condition called ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura), which can occur in advanced HIV infection. However, there are other conditions that can cause this.See 1 more doctor answer
Having all over itching with no rash but can scratching cause petechiae? I was scratching my arm last night and this morning there is a large patch
Could sleeping on my chest with my left arm underneath could cause petechiae to appear on that arm. Only lasted a day. Shoul I be concern?
It is certainly: Possible that prolonged compression from sleeping on your arm could cause this finding. It is unlikely you have a hematological disorder or that you are taking platelet inhibiting drugs but it wouldn't hurt to ask your health care provider to review your medications list and get a platelet count blood test just to be sure.
Can large doses of Ibuprofen cause Petechiae? I am prescribed Duexis for RA which contains 800 mg of Ibuprofen to be taken 3 times a day.
Yes: Yes ibuprofen inhibits platelettes and as such can cause such bleeding. Let your doctor know and you may have to try other alternatives.
Yes: Aspirin can cause petichiae whether pregnant or not.
Can tight clothing cause Petechiae? I have several on my chest and a large patch where my underwire from bra hits. Platelets at 331
Petechiae?: Hello ~ YES definitely. A primary sign of asphxyiation in death from strangulation, is petechiae at point of causation, being a ligature or rope or hands on the neck to cause the constriction. If you are talking about clothing, its likely to be in the groin, axilla, cuffs and any other point of constriction. Also note the constriction is severe, so wearing clothes this tight makes no sense..
I have dermatillomania and pick my cuticles on one hand. Have for years. Could this cause petechiae (formed over years) running up this same arm?
Yes!: Could be sign of infection, traveling up your arm. Is it warmer than other arm? Thicker? Fact that it's been happening gradually means its slow, not acute. Plus you take nsaid, which increases likelihood of bleeding issues (and advil=ibuprofen, so I hope you don't take both). Things i'd talk to your doc about next: top 2 clotting probs, thyroid, possibility of needing ssri for picking. Be well.
