Persistent Sore Throat With No Other Symptoms
Can I take Montelukast with Desloratadine together? Suffer from persistent rhinitis symptoms. Levocetirizine and Montelukast works OK, but sore throat
Yes: But I would doubt that the results would be that much different. Have you tried a nasal steroid? If nasal steroid also failed, consult an allergist.See 1 more doctor answer

I have recently caught a sore throat with no other symptoms other than grey mucus on the back of my throat. I've been smoking for 9 months. Thoughts?
Nasopharyngitis: There can be either viral or bacterial infections of the nasopharynx, the space up behind the soft palate which then cause midline drainage on the back wall of the throat. There might also be sore throat and ear pain. If it continues more than 7-10 days then antibiotics. In the meantime saline nasal rinses and mucous thinners.See 1 more doctor answer
Progressivley worse sore throat with no other symptoms excepts, coughing. At first had allergy type sneezing then, it started. Going on for a week.
Viral syndrome: Most likely you have viral upper respiratory tract infection that is causing sneezing, sore throat and coughing. You do not mention whether you have fever. If you develop high fever and/or increasing pain on swallowing, you have to be examined by a physician to rule out streptococcal throat infection.
I have a very sore throat with no other symptoms but have healing ruptured eardrums that are vulnerable to infection. Do I need to go to the doctor?
Pharyngitis: Never hurts to have this examined. May be strep throat and require antibiotics. Good luck.
What can cause a sore throat with no other symptoms, except an enlarged gland below jaw? No strep, and no visible irritation of throat. Been feeling like this for several days. Virus? Only other thing is that I accidentally ate mold about a week ago.
Chronic: Inflamed gland old infection, leave it alone.
Could a persistent sore throat with ear pain be related to a neurological cause? Nothing wrong in my throat as per many drs and culture is also made.
ENT consult: Sore throat often causes ear pain because of shared (cranial) nerves. You are young and nonsmoker. If it persists for longer than 2 weeks, then get checked out by a doctor. They will examine your ears and do a neuro exam in addition to looking at your throat. If the pains last over a month despite a normal exam, then get an appt with a local ENT who will do a more thorough scope exam.
Sore throat: Sore throat can be from a lot of things. Think about where the throat is and what is around it. Post-nasal drainage can cause sore throat. Stuffy nose or sinus infection can too. Infection of the mouth or throat can cause sore throat without any other symptoms. Infections can include viral, bacterial, fungal and rarely parasitic. Acid reflux can cause, too. Best to get it checked.
Viruses or Bacterial: Common cold, flu (influenza) mononucleosis (mono), measles chickenpox croup — a common childhood illness characterized by a harsh, barking cough strep throat, which is caused by a bacterium known as streptococcus pyogenes, or group a streptococcus whooping cough, a highly contagious respiratory tract infection diphtheria.
Symptoms of a sore: Throat may vary depending on the cause. Signs and symptoms may include. Pain or a scratchy sensation, pain that worsens with swallowing or talking, dry throat sore, swollen glands in your neck or jaw swollen, red tonsils. White patches or pus on your tonsils. Hoarse. Refusal to eat (infants and toddlers)• fever chill cough runny nose sneezingbody aches headache nausea or vomiting.
Drinking alcohol?: I think you already know the answer to this.
Mono: Not always, but it is quite frequent to have sore throat as a symptom.
See your doc: A sore throat can be from many causes, simple things like a cold. That inturn can cause the neck muscles to become stiff and sore. The simle things usually resolve in a few days. If the sore throat lasts longer, see your family doc.
Doctor can check: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants (hopefully not cancer). One should go to his doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly, to check things out (3-4 weeks is long). Sometimes throat lozenges can decrease throat pain.
I have a slightly sore throat and a strong cough. What would you recommend to reduce my symptoms?
White patches and red at back of throat but no sore throat or other symptoms is this normal or should it be all?
Not normal: This is not normal per se but not necessarily bad. You need to have it looked at by a doctor, best an ear nose and throat specialist if it persists for more than a few days. Good Luck!
