With care: Permethrin acts as a neurotoxin with greater effects on cold-blooded creatures like insects, fish, reptiles than warm- blooded. Overdoses can cause nausea, headaches, muscle weakness, excessive salivation and seizures. It has been classified by the epa as a likely human carcinogen. Thus, use sparingly and not around highly absorbable surfaces like any mucous membranes (nose, eyes, mouth). ...Read more

However, the skin disruption is caused by a reaction to the mites burrowing under the skin and leaving its debris in the tunnels. It can take two or more weeks for the skin to settle down and begin healing after initial treatment. If concerned a second treatment after a week could catch any stragglers, but is probably unnecessary. ...Read more

Not needed: Assuming your treatment was for scabies, even though a second treatment this soon would not be harmful, it also would be of little value. Treatment with Permethrin does not immediately cure the itch of scabies. It usually takes at least two weeks for the itching to subside.
