Common problem : Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. If you are always irregular then you are likely not ovulating consistently. Try a home ovulation kit. If it shows no ovulation then schedule a visit. ...Read more

Is having menstural like cramps on and off normal in early stages of preg? Missed period trying to conceive..Cramps here and there but no period..
Hard to know: Cramping is very common in early pregnancy and has no specific meaning. It does not mean you will have a miscarriage or other problem in pregnancy. We recommend just no vigorous exercise but otherwise going about normal activity. Often this is just bowel pain from dramatic increases in Progesterone hormone in pregnancy; this despite the feeling similar to menstrual cramps. Good luck. ...Read more

Following : Following ovulation can be frustrating. I find that the best approach is to use an ovulation predictor kit that you can get at any pharmacy. The instructions are very good in the kits so just follow them. As far as doing something to increase the chances of a boy, that is more difficult. There are procedures to select male sperm but it is not clinically available. Search on this website for a previous answer I have given that discusses this. The procedure is called microsort. Other than that, there is no proven way to change the odds. If you test and are not ovulating, or you have been trying for more than 6 to 12 months, it is time to see an ob/gyn or reproductive endocrinologist. Hope this helps. ...Read more
