Depends: Normaly those cyst may resolve an u will resume normal menses within 6 weeks. If cyst persist or enlarges, bleeding may be irregular. Cyst may rupture or have ovarian torsion. With your physician supervision u may start OCP's for ovarian suppression , or no meds. Repeat ultrasound in 6 weeks to recheck cyst. No reason to wait: Ruptured ovarian cysts are common and really do not impact the ability to get pregnant - unless you have a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome, in which fertility is a huge problem. In general if things are going well, the most likely time to get pregnant is about 2 weeks before your period which is when ovulation most commonly happens. Pills didn't do it: It would have been a good idea to do tests to find out why your periods were irregular before going on the pill. The pill may treat whatever this condition, but not cure it. Then when you stop the pill, what was causing the period to be irregular before you started on the pill is still present.
