Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Period 4 days late had spotting and negative pregnancy test, did I test to early. Period is always 28-29 days?

Period 4 days late had spotting and negative pregnancy test, did I test to early. Period is always 28-29 days?

Should be accurate: A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant. At 4 days late, the test is pretty accurate, but can repeat it if worried.

I have had four negative pregnancy test and yet my period is four days late...I've never had a late one before. Could I be pregnant?

Technique: If you did the test correctly at four days after missed period, it is unlikely that you are pregnant. You may take a blood test for HCG which is more sensitive and would be positive now if you are pregnant. Or, you could repeat the home test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Wait a little: Many things can delay your period, including simple stress. Pregnancy sounds unlikely from what you describe. If you go three months without a period than a workup is indicated.

Period is five days late and negative pregnancy test. Could I still be pregnant?

Period is five days late and negative pregnancy test. Could I still be pregnant?

Yes: If you are using standard urine pregnancy tests it is possible that they are not sensitive enough and that you are not far enough along in a pregnancy to be detected. That being said, typically negative urine preg means not pregnant, the only way to be sure is to see your doctor and have a beta quantitative HCG blood test. Best of luck.

Common in 40’s: Periods tend to change a lot for women in their 40’s. Although not yet in menopause hormone levels are less stable. There are many treatment options for regulation and others to lighten or eliminate the cycle altogether. Endometrial ablations are popular, safe options you may want to consider. Discuss with Obgyn

9 days late of my period but testing negative pregnancy test?

9 days late of my period but testing negative pregnancy test?

Trust the test: Don’t guess. Take a test. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

See you MD: You may need a blood pregnancy test. There are many different reasons for missing a period. Your md will ask about your history. Age, medical conditions like thyroid disease and diabetes, life stress, strenuous exercise, and eating disorders are a few things which can affect the menses. A blood pregnancy test may be considered.
