Can getting a pap while on your period return negative results wgen it should be positive?

Can getting a pap while on your period return negative results wgen it should be positive?

It depends/repeat,,,: This depends on where the area would be on the cervix, if there is one at all. It also depends on how heavy the period is. Maybe: It's hard to say. A more important question is, are you ovulating? If you are having 30-35 day cycles, chances are you are not. You need to check with your GYN and see if your treatment of the PCOS is optimized and that you are ovulating. Another question is, if you are trying to get pregnant, why are you on lisinopril? You need to talk to your PCP about a different medication. ...Read more

Is it normal to have an early period after a pap?

Is it normal to have an early period after a pap?

Not really...: A pap smear and pelvic exam won't trigger an early menstrual period. Scraping the cervix for the pap specimen might result in slight bleeding, especially if there was infection or inflammation involving the cervix. If you're at risk for STDs, gonorrhea and chlamdyia might be a concern. Best to check back with the office where the pap was done. Good luck! ...Read more

Started pill 3 weeks ago have just started period again 2nd time in 6 weeks Pap smear was normal. Usually very regular what's going on?

Irreg. Bleeding:OCPs: The most common reason for irregular bleeding on the oral contraceptive pills is not taking the pill within an hour of taking the last one the previous evening. Breakthough bleeding occurs with the very low dose pills now in use, so it is important to take close to the same time of the day before. Had a pap smear 5 days ago and I have been bleeding ever since then today 5th day and chunky already had period early this month. What could it be?

Pap causes bleeding: Just getting a pap smear can stir up some bleeding. The brushes we use are a little rough. I would normally expect it to pass in a couple of days, so 5 days seems a little unusual. But as long as it's tapering off, I wouldn't worry. Follow up with your gyn to be sure the pap was normal, and mention the bleeding when you call. S/he may have a better idea of why this is happening to you. ...Read more

Not a period...: But a pap smear can cause a small amount of bleeding. A brush and wooden 'spatula' are used to obtain cells from the cervix and os (the opening in the cervix to the uterus).
