Period was extremely heavy. I had tampon in but when I wiped it was all black clots. Most blood I have ever seen. Should I be concerned?
In a way: As long as you feel fine, other than the heavy menstrual bleeding, you should be OK, but any change in your period, that you never experienced before, should be told to your Dr and GYN to get a routine evaluation, some possible testing, and to assure all is well moving forward. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

It : It is normal to have cycle changes when you are close to menopause. By cycle changes i mean heavier or lighter periods, longer or shorter duration, as well as changes in time between periods. On the other hand heavy bleeding like you are describing should be evaluated. Your gynecologist may want to do a biopsy of your uterus called an emb (endometrial biopsy) in order to rule out any malignancies that could be causing you to bleed, as well as a pelvic ultrasound to rule out benign tumors called fibroids. Lastly anemia needs to be ruled out due to the significant amount of bleeding you are having. Please see your doctor right away. Best of luck to you. ...Read more
I was five days late for my period and now it is bright red blood with clots and I go through a tampon every hour. Is that normal?
Probably not: The flow you are describing would not be considered normal, and needs treatment. Any time you are late for your period, you have to make sure you are not pregnant. The bleeding you describe could be an early miscarriage. If a pregnancy test is negative, you probably have a hormonal disturbance that will require medicine to correct. You should see a women's healthcare provider, right away. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
