When should I expect my period after lupron (leuprolide)? I was on the 3 month shot. Do u think vitex could help?

1-6 months: It varies. Some women will resume quickly, within 1 months while others may be suppressed for longer. I would certainly expect things to be back to baseline by 6 months if not sooner. There is no research regarding the use of vitex (chasteberry) in this situation. But there is some research that support the use of vitex as a hormone modulator for premenstrual syndrome, so it's plausable.

Monthly Lupron (leuprolide)?: Were you on the 3 month shot - your period should return soon - or the monthly version? There is evidence that vitex (chaste tree) may help with pms and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain) but no studies showing that it helps women who are ttc. We don't know if it's safe to take vitex when you're pregnant either. See a rei physician if you came off monthly Lupron (leuprolide) to find out why your period is not back.

Hard to say: Taking Progesterone for 10 days after having Lupron (leuprolide) treatment may or may not cause a period. Usually Lupron (leuprolide) will thin out the uterine lining. Progesterone only works to bring on a period if there is a thick lining to shed. It may be helpful to get an opinion from a fertility specialist or another gynecologist.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

I was on lupron (leuprolide) depot shots for 6 months--when should I expect a period to return?

I was on lupron (leuprolide) depot shots for 6 months--when should I expect a period to return?

Soon: Generally if you took a monthly shot, your period should return about 1-2 months after the last shot. However that is assuming your periods were regular to begin with and nothing in your body changed while on lupron (leuprolide). Otherwise your period should revert back to normal.

Last 11.25mg lupron (leuprolide) shot was 9/13/12--- when will I get my period back?

Last 11.25mg lupron (leuprolide) shot was 9/13/12--- when will I get my period back?

About 3 months: This dose of Lupron (leuprolide) is designed to last 3 months. You may have 1 episode of bleeding shortly after the injection but no more sex hormones (estrogen or progesterone) will be produced after that until the Lupron (leuprolide) is gone. The drug is stored in fatty tissue so the timing my differ depending on your body fat amount.

Lupron (leuprolide): Lupron (leuprolide) lasts 3 months. While its very unlikely your pregnant, do a test. More likely, your not getting a period because of the the lupron (leuprolide).

I'm 49 years old and I've been diagnosed with endometriosis I was put on a regimen of 3.75 lupron (leuprolide) injectable for 6 months I didn't have a period for 3?

This is normal: Lupron (leuprolide) will make you stop menstruating. I start my patients on continuous ocp to continue thinning the endometrium. This can also keep the pain controlled. Once you enter menopause, (average age is 51), hopefully the symptoms will also improve.

I've had no period for a year thanks to lupron (leuprolide) injections I had administered for 6 months last year. Can I get pregnant currently?

Yes: If you're past the 12 weeks since your last injection, you can definitely get pregnant. If you don't want to be pregnant, make sure that you see doctor for birth control and wear condoms as well to prevent against std exposure. Good luck!

It's been almost 4mo since my last 11.25mg lupron (leuprolide) shot. I feel my period coming on, but haven't started yet. Is it soon or is endo coming back?

Not uncommon: Lupron (leuprolide) works initially by causing your pituitary gland to release fsh and lh. This explains why it is used in certain ivf protocols. In patients taking Lupron (leuprolide) for endometriosis patients can sometimes experience some worsening of their symptoms initially and then improvement after a couple of weeks. A 15 mm cyst is relatively small...Usually the follicle (cyst that contains an egg) reaches 20 mm.

Lupron (leuprolide) dose: It really depends on which Lupron (leuprolide) dose you recieved and how long you have been on it. Most patients are on the monthly or every 3 month lupron (leuprolide). But in general it may take several months for it to resume. If you are having unprotected sex, please check a pregnancy test.

Hi, I have been on two shots of lupron (leuprolide) dec 2012 and march 2013 for fibroid surgery. Had surgery done in may. Still no period. I am very concerned.?

Six months: It has been six months since your Lupron (leuprolide) injection. The effects are no longer in your system. Your doctor will need to see you for an exam and hormonal testing to determine what is causing a lack of periods. Elevated prolactin, annovulation, thyroid disease, weight gain and pregnancy are a few of the common causes.

Doubtful: If your last Lupron (leuprolide) dose was nine months ago and if it was the Depo-Provera form, that would last only approximately for three months. Ovulation should have resume within 4 to 8 weeks afterwards. An evaluation needs to be performed to see whether if your ovarian supply is compromised or you're not ovulating due to another cause.

Soon: You should expect your cycle soon. Check a pregnancy test as pregnancy is one of the common causes of a missed period. Also seek care with your gynecologist to look into why the cycle is delayed.

Not usually: You may have a degenerating fibroid from the lupron (leuprolide) or breakthrough bleeding from low estrogen induced by the lupron (leuprolide). do a home pregnancy test. if negative, good. If positive, see your doctor. At any rate if you are bleeding heavily you should be seen and have a blood count and an ultrasound. If you feel lightheaded when sitting up, then go to the ER or a walk-in asap you may be anemic.
