Do you think performance-enhancing drugs should be prohibited in any sporting events?

Yes and no!: If banned by the specific sport, then yes. But certain drugs are sport specific: the use of beta blockers in shooting or archery. They slow the heart and allow more time for the shot. But i anticipate you mean steroids and hgh. I took care of the us masters cycling champ. Discovered low testosterone in him. The ICU would not grant him an exemption for the worlds. Does inactive hep b patients have to stay away from only anabolic steroids to prevent activation of the virus or from any performance enhancing drug?

What's 'inactive?": Very few people with hepatitis b spontaneously clear the infection, which usually persists at a low level. If you were treated for it, you may have a long-term remission and even cure. However, if your liver is already damaged, throwing other drugs, many of which are toxic to the liver, is not good for you. You should clear anything you want to use with your liver specialist. ...Read more

Does inactive hep b patients have to stay away from only anabolic steroids to prevent activation of the virus or from any performance enhancing drug ?

Depends . . .: Answer depends upon how you define ped. After all, viagra (sildenafil) & Cialis are peds, too, but shouldn't be an issue in folks w/liver disease. In truth, prescription testosterone, either as a shot or via cream/gel/lotion/patch is really very safe as far as your liver goes. It's only oral testosterones that are dangerous as well as anabolic stuff that is designed to keep from breaking down in liver. ...Read more

Is using ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) as a performance enhancing supplement safe? If not, why and what precautions should be taken?

Is using ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) as a performance enhancing supplement safe? If not, why and what precautions should be taken?

Safe-no such thing: Safety is a relative term - more safe and less safe. I am concerned about caffeine in energy drinks, and ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) is far more of a problem than caffeine. It was removed from products in the US, just as phenylpropanolamine (PPA) was removed, because of too many reports of elevated blood pressure and pulse, and increased numbers of cases of angina and heart attack&stroke. I would stay away from it. ...Read more
