Could my drug regimen of depakote, omeprazole, percocet, calcium, and vitamin d be causing constipation?
Is Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) a good alternative to Percocet for post op pain? For less respiratory depression and constipation? Which one is more effective?
Both opioids: Both are effective for post-op pain. Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) is most effective when given by injection (IM) or by IV, it is least effective taken by mouth. Percocet has risks associated with the acetaminophen content. Both can cause respiratory depression and constipation. Yes: However, am concerned about combination of valium and percocet. Both are sedating and can mix in a deadly cocktail. Very worrisome. Percocet is the cause of constipation--any way to cut back or talk to doctor about alternative pain control measures? Constipation: Stay on a lower fiber diet and take daily tablespoon of milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) until off of the pain medication. That will put less in your colon and keep everything going until the need for pain medication passes.
