Careful. Drowsiness.: Both narcotics and traditional antihistamines cause drowsiness and "groginess"; ask your pharmacist or provider for instructions before taking them together; and don't drive. That being said, it is not unusual to see strong (prescription) cough suppressants containing both a narcotic and an antihistamine. Why are you taking both? Perhaps for sleep? Ask for an alternative. ...Read more

I'm taking Percocet for surgery I had I'm on no other medicine but the problem is I can't sleep when I take it can I take something to help me sleep like Benadryl (diphenhydramine)?
My doc had me triple my dose of percocet for post surgery pain and add Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with it. I woke up itching all over. Is that normal for percocet?
Took a benadryl (diphenhydramine) and 1 percocet of 10/325 together. I'm dizzy & sleepy and I just threw up. I had another percocet about 5hrs before that is it overdose?
Hard to tell: The dose of Percocet is fairly small, so doubt that it is an overdoses as much as the typical nausea which can accompany opioid uses. The mixing of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Percocet can be lethal though, and should never be done! Perhaps the elevated dose of the principal metabolite, oxymorphone, twice a strong as oxycodone was the culprit. ...Read more

Can Flagyl cause hypertonicity & limbs/face numbness as side effect? Was also taking Percocet, benedryl, phenergan, (promethazine) synthroid, & klonopin w/no issue.
Rule out alcohol: Flagyl can cause a build up of a toxic substance if taken with alcohol. The alcohol can be consumed or can be assimilated by hand washes, mouth washes, etc. The toxic build up would be my first guess as to the reason for the side effects noted. With a pharmacist or online you can search for known side effects of Flagyl (metronidazole). ...Read more
Is it ok to keep takin percoset if it makes u itch. I syrted taking benadyl with the med and I know longer itch?
Bad idea: The snorting of medicines that are not supposed to be administered intranasally is usually going to lead to catastrophic effects. The consequences of administering Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in an inappropriate manner could be delirium and hallucinations. You could also turn psychotic and accidentally hurt yourself or someone else. ...Read more

Should be ok if...: If a person had no problems taking meloxicam (Mobic) in the past for some medical condition, and separately had no problem taking diphenhydramine (Benadryl) in the past, then she should be ok taking the medications at the same time. If worried, she can ask her doctor who prescribed the meloxicam. Benadryl does cause drowsiness, so can be unsafe for certain activities such as driving or piloting. ...Read more
Talk 2 dr/pharmacist: There are no particular drug-drug interactions, but we don't know what other medications you are on, or what your other health issues are. Benadryl is mildly sedating and may antagonize some of the effects of adderall. An occasional benadryl for an allergic problem or insomnia is likely to be fine, while regular use of it may be a problem for you. Talk to your prescriber and/or your pharmacist. ...Read more
Yes: You can take them together. If you are sensitive to the sedating effects of antihistamines, you should not take them at the same time. It would be better to take Allegra in the morning or afternoon and then Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the evening before bed. However, if you don't feel sleepy after taking antihistamines, it would not be harmful to take them together. ...Read more

Work differently: Claritin in a non-drowsy antihistamine. It doesn't cause sleepiness, but you need to use it every day for it to work really well. It's lousy for severe allergic reactions because it takes days to be fully effective. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) causes drowsiness and only lasts for six hours, but is great for severe allergic reactions and works very quickly. If you're exposed and need help now, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is better. ...Read more
