I just got home from out patient surgery on my big toe. I was given percocet, but it doesn't do much. Is there a better option. Codine allergy.
Call your podiatrist: We can not advice you what you should take as we do not know the strength of Percocet and how often you are taking it and what kind of surgery you had.The options you have are either increase the dose and/or take it more frequently or switch to another drug like hydromorphan only your podiatrist or your doctor can advie you what will be best in your case and how long you will need the narcotics. ...Read more
Trying to figure out my allergies. I get hives from Vicodin, Morphine, NSAIDS, Codeine. Does that mean also allergic to Percocet? How about Oxycodone?
Likely: The reaction from codeine, Vicodin, Morphine etc are not truly allergic reaction but from these drugs' ability to release histamine from your cells. Thus you will not likely tolerate any drug in the opiate group. NSAIDs can also cause hives (which are considered allergic in some) but more likely aggravates an existing episode of hives regardless what may be causing it. Need more information. ...Read more
Half life : Half of the Percocet can be out of your body in about 4-5 hours , but the other half is still there. 3 to 4 days might be reasonable to expect it to be cleared.
