May I take a pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) tablets an hour after I had taken Garlic Echinacea? I have some nausea.
Stop self-treating!: Nausea may be GI-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary & pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems). Consider "central" causes: motion sickness, vertigo, migraine headache, brain problems (some very serious). Also, rule out infection (? urinary tract), medication side effects, pregnancy, & even reaction to stress. Find & treat the cause--see doc. ...Read more

Hello Doctor. How are you? I have a few pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) tablets that expired one year ago.I have a really bad stomach ache.. Is it safe to take a pill?
Would use new: generally good policy not to take expired medications, and I would get fresh antacids, or even try household baking soda if you feel this is from stomach acid. If recurrent, see MD. Ulcers (?aspirin/motrin), infection (e.g. H pylori), gall stones, etc may need to be considered. Seek MD esp if red flags eg increasing nausea/vomit, blood/melena (black stools), anemia, weight loss, fever ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I left my pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) chewable tablets in the car for about 2 hours today. It was 75 degrees out. Are they still okay to take?
NO: Pepto-bismol's active ingredient is bismuth subsalicylate; this is a chemical combination of bismuth metal & subsalicylate. Heating pepto-bismol separates the metallic portion of the salicycyate & then you absorb too much of the metal which can be toxic. If temperature is 75 outside inside the car can reach over 100. So do not use those pills. Generally never leave any medications inside a car i. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Have u been checked?: Bowel changes/pain can be caused by lots of things & may indeed originate outside the GI tract. Further evaluation is in order before anyone can answer "what to do."
