If this is diagnosed, the pt should take antibiotics and medications such as H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors. Pain meds are not the answer, though narcotics can help with the acute pain. Avoid NSAID if able: I would minimize NSAID use and/or consider a cox-2 alternative. Hpylori needs to be excluded and treated if present. With this i would rec high dose ppi bid for 6-8 weeks and then if PUD healed decrease to once a day. ...Read more
