See below.: You cannot be allergic to alcohol - that is impossible. You can only be allergic to things that have proteins. Alcohol chemically has no proteins. You may be sensitive to alcohol. For example, it may give you heart burn. If that is the case, Pepcid (famotidine) may help but i would not advise that. Rather, i'd advise not using alcohol at all or limiting the amount and frequency so it doesn't affect you longer. ...Read more
I take Pepcid and Claritin daily for reflux and allergies respectively. Nursing 7 month old. Okay?
Safe: Pepcid (famotidine) is used in newborns in levels higher than would be found in breastmilk. It is safe. Claritin (loratadine) an antihistamine might alter breast milk flow. Consider instead using nasal steroid or nasal cromolyn (both over the counter). Both are safe with breastfeeding. ...Read more

Yes: According to epocrates...No black box warnings exist for pepcid (famotidine). Only in renal insufficiency dosis should be adjusted. There has been reports associating Pepcid (famotidine) with cardiac arrhythmias and av blocks but I am not aware about chf. In general i think is not absolutely contraindicated.
