Only if visible: Dr. would be able to see it only if clearly visible on the outside of the urethra. If the lesions are even inside by 1/8 of an inch, this would not be visible. Not likely :/: It sounds like you have genital sores and have a history of unprotected sex, and that genital herpes was diagnosed at your last pelvic exam. While can happen, it sounds much more likely that your hope for misdiagnosis is wishful thinking :/ maybe this is a good time to go back into your OB, let her have another look, and review some genital herpes treatment options with you. ...Read more

History and physical: Urinalysis is worthless as a diagnostic tool, the herpes 2 bloodwork is infamous unreliable, and examination between outbreaks is not helpful. You might have the opportunity to have the suspect lesions seen during a flare -- herpes comes and goes, warts are more likely to remain constant, and there are other lesions that can do either.
