Fever,Pain,Diarrhea: A pelvic abscess is a collection of pus that develops after an infection, such as perforated appendicitis, diverticulitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, crohn's disease, etc. Therefore, some of the symptoms may be related to the primary illness. Atypical mass on xra: Pelvic abscesses are rare and due to the progression of a prior infection. Usually someone has a high fever, severe abdominal pain, and pain on exam. Masses or collections of pus can be seen on ultrasound or ct exam. Treatment is urgently needed if this is the correct diagnosis. Suspicious: If you have a pelvic abscess, you should at least have been given antibiotics. Small abscesses can resolve with just antibiotics. Larger abscesses have to be drained either by surgery or by image guidance (ct or ultrasound). Waiting a month with antibiotics could be appropriate if the abscess is small. If you are not on antibiotics you should ask your dr about them. ...Read more
