Data suggest that Infergen has little or no benefit after Pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a) failure. There are new oral medications. These medications (pills) along with Pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a) and Ribavirin has very good response rate, if you are infected with type I hepatitis c virus. No benefit: The us preventative services task force recommends that pegintron and Pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a) are similar enough that if someone did not achieve cure with pegintron, they should not attempt retreatment with Pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a) since it will likely not help. No: Ribavirin and pegylated interferon cause many many nasty symptoms, but pain is not a prominent one of them, and there is no need for opioids.
