Urine odor: Generally speaking, we don't necessarily have to be concerned about the odor of our baby's urine. In the absence of any other symptoms (ie: fever, vomiting, poor feeding, irritability), there is no cause for concern. The best test of course is a urine sample obtained via catheter to be sent for urinalysis and culture. But, as mentioned above, in the absence of any other symptoms, no action is nece.
What did you eat?: Usually it is what you eat or drink that dictates the smell of your urine. Sugary foods if enough, will cause a rise in your serum blood glucose concentration, and the body reacts by trying to excrete the extra sugar in your urine. Often causing a sweet smell.See 1 more doctor answer
Here are some. ..: The urine odor you smell may widely vary to reflecting what you consumed, how concentrated and fresh the urine is, and how your personal unique sense of smell is. So, cereal-like smell could be normal for you at the time as long as voiding well with good flow and bladder emptying, and being normal in urinalysis from properly collected urine specimen. More? Ask Doc timely for confirmation.
Smelly dark urine: Dark urine is usually a sign of concentrated urine which MAY cause a foul odor. Without symptoms - I would simply increase your fluid intake (but NOT alcohol beverages) and see if that solves your issue. If you start to have frequency and pain you probably should see a doctor. I've had pain on the left side of my lower back for months and my pee smells like tuna, is this bad?
Left bavck side is hurting this has neen going on for 2 months now a.Nd some times pee smells like aomoina?
Last few months, only mornings after drinking a little alcohol, my pee smells bad and strong. Other mornings and days, normal with no smell. Thoughts?
Here are some...: Urine smell is personally unique to reflect the urine concentration and what you ate. Hence, it is okay with smelly urine as long as urinalysis from properly collected fresh urine is unremarkable. More? Ask your doctor, or contact www. HealthTap. My Urine (pee) smells like fishy/prawns and it's weird. What could this be?? It's normal in color though. Not too dark or too light. Just smelly. Thnx
Urine smells fish: Suggest it may be something you age that is coming out in urine. For example asparagus in some gives urine special smell. If it comes and goes see if you can figure out what it is that you are eating. Note you are on metformin. Do you have diabetes? If so your urine sugar may be high and that is what you are smelling. Check your blood sugar.
Possible infection.: Urine that is foul smelling can come from a bladder infection where bacteria grow in the urine. This is usually accompanied by pelvic pain and burning with urination. Certain foods that we eat, notably asparagus, can impart odor to the urine. If you have symptoms or the odor doesn't disappear, see your physician for a checkup and urinalysis.
Not clear: If urine has a consistently odd odor, you should see md and have urinalysis and urine culture to ensure that it is normal. The urine is a mirror of the body's health; if there is too much sugar, or infection, or blood, it will become clear from these tests. Not clear what "butter" smell reflects, but ensure that there are no issues.
Depends on the cause: There are a number of foods or drinks that if excreted into the urine can change the usual color or smell. Of more concern would be an infection in the urine. If yo are concerned, ask your doctor to culture your urine to see if there is an ongoing infection.
Yes: Some medications are excreted from the body through the urine, sometimes causing a distinct odor similar to the medication itself.
Here are some...: The odor characteristics of fresh urine reflect the urine concentration & what you consume; that is normal as long as urinalysis from properly collected urine is normal / unremarkable. Besides, the urine odor will evolve and change to be more offensive on its course of exposing to the air and outside environment. More? Ask doc timely.
