I would: See a foot doctor. The question is are the lumps or bumps really on the tendon or in the subcutaneous tissues.....either way you should be examined, much easier to make a diagnosis like that in person... Re: ingrown Toenail: If you are diabetic, make and appointment to see a healthcare professional immediately. Be alert for signs of infection including redness swelling and drainage (fluid or pus). You may have an ingrown nail on that toe which is rubbing the skin and making it painful. If it breaks the skin it may also become infected. Or you may have had the toe rubbing the side of a pair of shoes that are a little too tight which can also cause the symptoms you describe.
