Luckily most are benign & not dangerous, like lymph nodes & simple cysts, although sebaceous cysts, folliculitis & abscess (pus pocket) can hurt. Need for evaluation: Was the head CT for the "lump" in the neck? Were there other "lumps". A doctor must have examined you before the CT and s/he should be in a position to advise you. A single pea sized "lump" that has not increased in 3 months is not likely to be a tumor, however, you should discuss the matter with your doctor. ...Read more

Need to examine: Do you have lesions in your scalp, or face? Even bad dandruff or pimples on the face may lead to enlargement of local lymph nodes. If you have no lesions on the scalp and/or face, you can wait to see what happens. It is not likely that you have cancer, but if the node persists for more than two weeks, it would be prudent to consult your doctor. ...Read more
