Pea Size Breast Lump Is Lymph Node
Risk is VERY low!:
Any breast lump can be benign or cancerous. Important things are: has it grown, changed, gotten harder, deformed, dimpled the skin, made the skin over it red or swollen, or become associated with lumps in your armpit? At age 28, the chance of a lump being cancer is about 1/10, 000 -- which is NOT zero.
Please see a breast specialist for an exam, and likely an ultrasound. Good luck to you! ...Read more
Possible: At age 28, defining a breast lesion should be by palpation or sonography and not mammography. Sono showing a regular solid lesion suggests fibroadenoma. If cystic on sono it should subside or can be aspirated. If lesion is firm and possibly irregular excisional bx needed since while Ca is rare it can occur at age 28. ...Read more
Please clarify: The presence of a lump in the breast associated with axillary (armpit) lymph node enlargement is worrisome for breast cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes. However, lumps don't develop in the breast due to enlarged lymph nodes. ...Read more
HIghly unlikely: If done with sterile precautions. However, the armpit lymph nodes connect to those along the sub clavicle vein nodes and then into the neck. If the lump was cancer, you will need to have sentinel nodes checked, and if these neck nodes do not subside, they too need biopsy. ...Read more
Not likely: Because the lymph drainage from the breast is to axillary and internal mammary (inside the chest near the breast bone) lymph nodes. There might be something else going on. Consult surgeon who did your lump removal. ...Read more

Cancer unlikely: A lump in a young woman's breast is likely a benign fibrous adenoma and a lymph node in the same woman is likely a reaction to a minor infection from a small injury from shaving. Having said that a doctor should review the situation and determine if any further diagnostic procedures like mammogram, ultrasound, and fine needle aspiration are warranted. ...Read more
4year ago had palpable lump in breast, 2us 2mamg showed mammmary lymph node. Now I'm 5w pg: breasts feels lumpier and lymph node hurts. Hormones?
Was rather obsessively checking my breasts & armpits for lumps - now I can feel what I think is a small lymph node. Could I have caused it to enlarge?
Do not check it more often than once in two weeks. If it doubles in size or other lymph nodes get larger, see doctor.
For good health - If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD.
Practice safe sex. ...Read more
Had breast MRI, family history. A lump they think its benign lymph node. Right away they want to do a mammogram. Why would they do it if its that?
Mam may prove it: An MRI cannot always tell a lymph node from a tumor, including cancer. A lymph node and some tumors light up intensely after contrast is injected. But a lymph node on a mammogram may have the classic appearance of a lymph node and if it is in the same place in the breast as the "lump" seen on the MRI the answer will be clear. Note: if you have a prior mammogram have them compare with this one! ...Read more

With reference to breast cancer, if a solid lump is present in the armpit area (lymph node), does it matter if it is itchy or not?
Go see your doctor: If a solid lump is present in your axilla (the arm pit area), it does not matter if it is itchy or not, you need to go see your doctor right away for an evaluation. Breast cancer tends to travel to the axilla, but other cancer can also present as a solid lump in the armpit too, such as lymphoma. ...Read more

What kind of breast lump (found by GP along with swollen lymph node) would not show up on US or mammo? Scans showed I have very dense breast tissue.
Neither: Mammography nor ultrasound are 100% accurate for detecting cancer. In particular, the sensitivity of mammo can drop to lower than 50% in dense breasts. A small percentage of cancers are found only on physical exam, and not seen on mammo or US. However, the chance of a lump being cancer in the setting of a negative mammo and ultrasound is low, approx. 0.5%-3%. ...Read more
