His diagnosis will : Change in the dsm-v in may to autistic spectrum disorder . No matter the label, irritability & aggression can often be extinguished by behavioral therapy that identifies triggers & uses consistent consequences. Abilify (aripiprazole) & Risperdal are fda-approved & work in low doses.40-70% of kids with ASD also have adhd. Intuniv, used for adhd, often has a " mellowing" effect. Used to communicate needs, desires or feelings, it's a step toward social communication.
