34/f hist of pcos. Taking metformin. Tracking cycles for 3 months. Positive OPK cd21 w/dark (almost black) spotting. Is this a true positive result?

Sounds like it: If you do a home ovulation kit and it is positive there is no good reason to think that it is a false positive. You could have a Progesterone blood test done by your doctor 7 days after the positive result. If the level is above 10 then it is a true test indicating you did ovulate. You could also check a pregnancy test in 10-14 days. Good luck. ...Read more

Hi having Pcos taking metformin & ginette 35 from 7 months. Now I want to conceive, can I start taking Clomid (clomiphene) with metformin? .

Discuss with Dr: You may not need Clomid (clomiphene) to conceive after stopping Ginette. Some PCOS patients are able to ovulate and conceive just on Metformin and/or with weight loss. Try using ovulation predictor kit. IHowever, if you have been actively trying to conceive without success (on prenatal vitamins), see a Dr with expertise on infertility for further evaluation and possible treatment with Clomid (clomiphene). ...Read more

I have pcos, taking metformin 850 mg, follicum, taken pregnyl 5000 iu injection, my doc called to take vaginal ultrasound at 20 days, wat will she examine?

Not sure: Not sure what the purpose of this ultrasound is. Possibly she wants to see if there is "dominant" folicule present that may indicate that there will be potential ovulation. I think the best way to find out is to ask her prior to the ultrasound. ...Read more

Unclear: It is unclear what you mean by taking "birth control pills twice after sex.” I think you mean that you are taking emergency contraception. If so then that explains the irregular bleeding. Have you considered taking a regular birth control pill daily to help regulate the cycles with PCOS? This is a common approach. ...Read more

Trying to conceive having pcos and taking metformin, every month I got dark brown blood in start and end of periods is it normal?

Trying to conceive having pcos and taking metformin, every month I got dark brown blood in start and end of periods is it normal?

Can be normal: The good news is that you are getting a monthly cycle! If you have a day or two of dark spotting right before or at the end of your period that can be normal, as long as the total length is still 7 days or less. Dark just means old. So when the flow is slow, the blood has more time to change color before it comes out. If you have more than 7 days of bleeding, get checked out by your gyn. ...Read more

I'm having 8 follicles in left and 10 in right ovary. So am I having pcos? I'm taking metformin for past 3 months and im in regular menstrual cycle

PCOS: Confimation of PCOS is made on ultrasound. The number of follicles seen can be many or just a few depending on whether you have been pregnant or not. If your cycles are regular on metformin, I would not worry about the number of follicles in your ovary unless you are trying to get pregnant. Discus this with your gynecologist if you have questions. ...Read more

I'm 19 and I have PCOS. Currently I'm taking metformin and Harmoni -f. Is that a good treatment?

Yes.: Metformin may help with insulin resistance usually seen with PCOS. Harmoni-f is an oral contraceptive pill which will help regulate your periods.
