Pcos is a metabolic disorder affecting 8-10% of women that may cause irregular periods, acne or increased hair growth, infertility or subfertility, and increases the risk of diabetes. To diagnose pcos, we need 2 out of 3 of: 1. Irregular or no periods 2. Acne, hair growth and/or blood tests showing too much male-type hormones (androgens) 3. Ultrasound showing large ovaries ...Read more
PCOS: The cysts formed in PCOS are incomplete ovulations, as they frequently do not rupture "on their own", but remain and enlarge the affected ovaries. Large ovarian "follicle cysts" can rupture. See your gyn provider, as the "treatment" for PCOS, (unless pregnancy is desired) is usually oral bcp's or the equivalent to suppress ovarian cyst formation, and to prevent changes in the endometrium. ...Read more

Acne - PCOS: In women, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of hyperandrogenism. This disorder is characterized by menstrual irregularity, hirsutism, acne, ovarian cysts. Androgens play a key role in the development of acne vulgaris through the induction of sebum production. Thus, antiandrogenic therapies can be useful for the management of female patients with moderate to severe acne ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi i have 6cm cyst right ovary&19 follicles left ovary(pcos).can i start clomid.i have had these for 3yrs no issues.dr wont remove?
No: It would be best to have 6cm cyst removed to increase chances of pregnancy. There is more to starting clomid than just knowing your follicle count. You would need many other tests on both partners first to ensure you are a good candidate. You should discuss further with your obgyn. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The prog for preg with docs who are experienced treating this are actually pretty good. Most import is right docs working togeth ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have pcos and a large hemorrhagic ovarian cyst. The doctor said it should go away in 6-8 weeks, but I'm having severe back pain.
6-8cm: Generally if a cyst is > 6-8cm it should be drained surgically. Ultrasound also serves to determine if it’s benign or malignant. If pain is severe a surgical opinion is needed. ...Read more
I am 20 y/o, weigh 129 kg & have PCOS, is it possible to surgically remove the cyst at my age or is my doctor saving my life by not allowing me to do so & making me lose weight & get rid of the cyst the natural way, even though its hard as it is?
Lose weight: Hi there! PCOS is essentially a metabolic syndrome. The underlying problem is insulin resistance which in turn causes high insulin level circulating in the body. High insulin level causes all sorts of symptoms including the cysts on your ovaries. PCOS cannot be cured but can be controlled. Losing weight is your best option as it treats the ROOT of the problem which is insulin resistance. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
4cm cyst in left ovary and trying to conceive.
Doctor said no clomid with cyst.
I am taking Metaformin 1000mg for PCOS.
Now i am waiting for the cyst to go off on its own.
Can you please give me a second opinion as to is this the right way?
4 cm ovarian cyst: There is no contraindication to clomid when having a "4 cm ovarian cyst" , unless the cyst was formed while taking other highly stimulatory medications for follicle production, and/or the estradiol levels are high as a result. Not every follicle actually bursts to produce an egg, in which case it slowly grows in size, but usually resolves (bursts) spontaneously. PCOS often produces these cysts. ...Read more

I finished one round of provera is there any possibility i can get pregnant having very small cyst cause by pcos? i started my period on 8/25/17 and was on it for 6 days im having cramping on my pelvic area could i be ovulating?
Possibly: Someone with PCOS is more likely to ovulate later that average so your pain may be related to ovulation. However, ovulation typically does not cause any symptoms at all. If you keep having pain, you should see a doctor. Otherwise, if you don't have a period by 28 days after 8/25, take a pregnancy test. Good luck ...Read more
My LMP was on nov. 5th, I am usually 32 days, I am now 13 days late and two negative pregnancy tests. Can this be cause by PCOS? Hx of Ovarian Cysts
Started having periods at 13 & had irregular periods since, ranges from 30-90 days. Both ovaries usually have many cysts & I have an acne problem as well, but I always get normal hormone levels & never been overweight. No insulin resistance. PCOS?
Irreg/menses:PCOS?: At 24, with cycles as described, ovarian cysts and acne, PCOS is certainly a possibility. Stress can also contribute to all of these findings. Consult your gyn provider, as low dose oral bc can regulate your cycle, and may resolve the acne and frequency of ovarian cyst formation. If this is true PCOS, low dose bcp use can also help prevent other problems which can occur later in life from PCOS. ...Read more
