Ivf (Definition)

In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology. Ivf is a procedure used to treat fertility problems and assist with the conception of a child. During ivf mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. A few days later, the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted into the uterus. One cycle of in vitro fertilization ...Read more

I'm 29, have pcos and am planning on doing IVF with my own frozen eggs. What would my success chances be? How many eggs should I thaw for 5-7 embryos?

I'm 29, have pcos and am planning on doing IVF with my own frozen eggs. What would my success chances be? How many eggs should I thaw for 5-7 embryos?

Depends: The standard therapy is the freezing of embryos (fertilized eggs). Usually 40% of retrieved eggs result in good embryos. Egg freezing is still experimental and thus you would have to expect that the embryo yield is lower than with standard ivf. If your clinic has experience with egg freezing, then ask what their success is to create embryos and most importantly, a live birth from frozen eggs. ...Read more

Is having pcos increase my risk to have hyper stimulation syn when im on fertility IVF medication ?

OHSS: OHSS does happen more often in women with PCOS undergoing stimulation with gonadotropins, like for IVF. It is still not at all common. Your actual risk depends more on your doctor and his/her protocols than on your PCOS. You need to have a talk with YOUR doctor about this, this is always a part of an informed consent. ...Read more

Which is more suitable for patient with pcos and endometriosis doing ivf? dydrogesterone or medroxyprogesterone?

Similar: I think it comes down to "what are you using them for?" in IVF. Both are synthetic progestins, both are safe with limited side effects. For regulating a cycle start there should be no difference. Some protocols use Duphaston (dydrogesterone) for luteal support in IVF, MPA (medroxy-P) would be a less good choice - although micronized progesterone is probably superior to both. ...Read more
