Iv been using an hotwater bottle on my back for a while now Iv got this horrible brown mark and this pat few week Iv started to get clusters of spots?

Need more info: From your description it sounds like you may have "burned" the skin on your back if the water in the hot water bottle was too hot. This may happen especially if done for a prolonged period of time. Stop use of the hot water bottle, apply a gentle skin cream containing aloe daily. If you see no improvement in a week you should consult with your family physician and find the cause of your back pain ...Read more

I am bleeding after having a patial hysterectomy 6 years ago just started bleeding?

Define "partial": What do you mean by a "partial" hysterectomy? This term, partial, has been mis-used and can be confusing. If you mean that you had your uterus removed, but your cervix remains, that is more accurately termed a supra-cervical hysterectomy. The cervix that is left behind may still have tissue in the canal that can bleed with your cycles. The best way to find out is to have an exam to confirm. ...Read more

If I had normal DEXA 10 yr ago and eat right and exercise, do I need to repeat it? Stopped estrogen at 60 women in family (pat/mat) live into late 90s

Healthy baby boomer: Dear baby boomer -- congratulations on your healthy lifestyle choices, good genes, normal DEXA scan 10 years ago, and playful, fun-loving personality. Can all children who suffer scarlett fever often go blind later in their lives?

Never seen it happen: I have treated many over the years and have never seen or heard of this happening as a result of "scarlet fever". Today with rapid diagnosis and treatment of strep infections we see fewer complications of the disease. I have been recovering from back to back concussions for over a year and yesterday someone patted my head four times kinda hard and it still hurts?

Scalp pain: May take a year to resolve. If you injured a cutaneous nerve and it tried to regrow from its origin and came up against an obstacle (such as scar tissue between the skull and skin) It may form a neuroma. If this is the case tenderness may persist for years. These are issues that are of course separate from the myriad cognitive / behavioral issues that may arise following a single TBI. ...Read more

My niece has scarlett fever I have a 7 month old. Is it dangerous to have the baby around my neice or people that have been in contact with my niece?

My niece has scarlett fever I have a 7 month old. Is it dangerous to have the baby around my neice or people that have been in contact with my niece?

Not so much: If you have the label then the kid has been diagnosed & should be on treatment. Unless the kid had close contact with the 7mo it would be hard for it to get the Strep A infection that causes it. Contact during the early symptom phaze or 1st 24 hrs on meds would be the vulnerable period. If so the baby would get the rash too. Contact with saliva would be the mode of transfer, not from being nearby. ...Read more

Sleep hygiene: This sleeping routine is all she knows and needs to be helped to return to a healthier way of sleeping. When I sit my baby up and pat her back, she usually burps and spits up, but only a little bit. Is that normal?

Spit ups are common: Small amounts of spit ups are very common in infants, due mostly in part to their anatomy. Since the esophageal sphincter is not as well developed for the first few months, they are at an anatomical disadvantage for keeping milk in the stomach. If not associated with poor weight gain, projectile vomiting or severe distress, spit ups are not cause for concern. ...Read more
