Pasty Stool Causes
20yrs old. Most likely cause for mucus in stool on an off and pasty textured stool on and off? Dehydration a factor?
My 2 year old daughter has swallowed a lot of gum over the past 2 weeks could that be what cause her stomach to hurt and pasty stool?

Yes: Pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) turns stools black & can do the same to your tongue as well. However, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) has Aspirin which can cause eventual paradoxical stomach irritation & bleeding. Bleeding in the upper gut can also show up with dark or 'tarry' stools due to oxidation of iron as it passes through the upper bowel.
