If you are a non-smoker but smoked 3 menthol cigarettes are you able to pass a cotinine blood test?

Depends: If you have the test day after smoking you may not pass, however, a week later you should pass as long you have no other exposure to tobacco, including second hand smoke. ...Read more

What do you advise if i smoke a pack a day how long before cotinine is out of my blood so i can pass a blood test?

What do you advise if i smoke a pack a day how long before cotinine is out of my blood so i can pass a blood test?

3-4 days: at most. Nicotine is a short-acting drug, and is metabolized into cotinine, which can be detected in blood for 1-2 days, in urine 3-4 days at most. More important than passing the "smoking" drug test is QUITTING TOBACCO. I encourage you to strongly consider getting into a formal tobacco cessation program. ...Read more

I am not a smoker but had a few cigs while drinking a few weeks ago. How likely am i to test positive for cotinine on a blood test?

I am not a smoker but had a few cigs while drinking a few weeks ago. How likely am i to test positive for cotinine on a blood test?

Not likley: A week for an occasional user is enough to clear the nicotine from your body, provided you have not been exposed to second hand smoke. Combining alcohol and tobacco is a very bad idea and their toxic effects are synergistic. Avoid tobacco, always, and have no more than one drink a day. ...Read more

I smoked 1 cigarette 14 days before an upcoming blood test for Cotinine. Smoked 0 cigarettes 2 months prior. Will test be negative for Cotinine?

I smoked 1 cigarette 14 days before an upcoming blood test for Cotinine. Smoked 0 cigarettes 2 months prior. Will test be negative for Cotinine?

Yes: cotinine is positive for a few days as most after one cigarette, depending on whether it is a blood test, oral swab or urine test, but after discontinuing smoking, even oral swabs (which appear to be the most sensitive) will be negative by 5 days later. ...Read more

I smoke a little pot and I want to know if that will hurt my Continine blood test?

I smoke a little pot and I want to know if that will hurt my Continine blood test?

Possibly not: If the continine test is a single panel test for only continine and nicotine, then no it will not show up. If it is not a single panel test and measures other drugs in the system or metabolites, then it likely will show up. ...Read more

I need to pass a blood test for my insurance. I smoke cigarettes okay, how long does it take to get nicotine out of my system?

I need to pass a blood test for my insurance. I smoke cigarettes okay, how long does it take to get nicotine out of my system?

Stop for 2 weeks: To be safe, you might want to stop smoking for a couple weeks. They are testing for cotinine which is a metabolite of nicotine. It has a long half life up to 40 hours. This tests shows positive for both active smokers and those who have quit but are using nicotine patch, gum, etc. Another test is used to identify active smokers. It is called anabasine and found in tobacco products. Try 2 wks off. ...Read more

I had quit smoking, i smoked 10 cigs in 1 day. Can i pass a nicotine/metabolite blood test 4 days later?

I had quit smoking, i smoked 10 cigs in 1 day. Can i pass a nicotine/metabolite blood test 4 days later?

You should: Am not aware of people preferring blood tests to urine tests for cotinine, particularly since it can be found in blood only for a few hours after smoking, while it persists in urine for several days. In any case, testing should be negative 4 days later. More important than passing the test is actually quitting smoking, and taking care of your health. Please quit and stay quit! ...Read more

Hey i know somebody that smoked maybe half a gram of weed and smokes maybe once every 3 months how can they pass it if they skinny and 5'8 blood test?

Hey i know somebody that smoked maybe half a gram of weed and smokes maybe once every 3 months how can they pass it if they skinny and 5'8 blood test?

Probably: This isn't the place to talk about the wisdom of these laws or this testing. A very low level, which is what your friend will have is they didn't smoke a few days before the test, might be blamed on 'passive exposure.' try to avoid the stuff if you're likely to be tested until the laws change in your area. ...Read more

If someone smoked marijuana 2 weeks ago would they be able to pass a blood test?

If someone smoked marijuana 2 weeks ago would they be able to pass a blood test?

Probably, however...: As my colleague dr. Pappas mentions, marijuana is almost always tested in urine rather than blood, so someone would almost certainly pass a blood test but is more likely to face a urine test. If one does not smoke it regularly and only used a bit 2 weeks ago they would probably pass a urine test, but if they are a regular smoker who only stopped 2 weeks ago they might not pass it. ...Read more
