Partially Empty Sella Syndrome
MRI observation: Primary empty sella syndrome is a description given when a pituitary gland (which normally sits in a region called the "sella turcica") cannot be visualized on mri. This can be because the pituitary glad is small or flattened for some reason. Often no symptoms will be present, but can include headache, impotence, or nipple discharge due to changes in the hormones normally produced by the gland. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Multiple suggestive MR signs of pseudotumor cerebri, including partially empty sella along mild ectatic dilatation of the optic nerves' sheaths means?
Had MRI which showed small amount of fluid within the optical sheath and a partially empty sella turcica. What does this mean?
MRI of head: Cannot relate "fluid in optical sheath" with the report of a "partially empty sella tursica" without knowing more of why the MRI was indicated. The sella tursical houses the pituitary gland, and is most often "partially empty". I would ask the healthcare provider who ordered the MRI to explain in detail the reasons for the MRI and the report findings you have described. ...Read more
Partly filled sella: In empty sella syndrome, the malformed sella turcica is often either partially or completely filled with cerebrospinal fluid. As a result, the pituitary gland is often compressed and flattened so that the sella turcica appears empty. Most individuals with empty sella syndrome do not have any associated symptoms. ...Read more
Rentgen of sella turcica was comented like this: there is prononced shadowing (darkness) in sella turcica (Fosa hypophisalis). What does this mean?
I have no idea: Hi. Unfortunately, X-rays of the sella are next to worthless. All we do to investigate the pituitary anatomically is high resolution thin cut MRI with gadolinium. What is the clinical condition that made your doc try to look at the pituitary with X-ray? I hope that if there is real concern over pituitary function or question of tumor, you get an MRI. Good luck! ...Read more
Frequent headaches and had ct of sinuses for unrelated issue it showed partially empty sella. Empty sella with headaches concerning? What causes this?
Primary? IIH? Pseudo: A partially empty sella means that the pituitary gland (which usually sits in the sella) has shrunken. The key is to figure out if it is from primary or secondary causes. Primary means pituitary - you would've been left with hormone abnormalities. However, most secondary causes are from idiopathic intracranial hypertension, which causes headaches & is common in obese females. TTYD for confirm test ...Read more

Check residual: See your urologist to do what is called a post void residual which checks to see that after you urinate that if there is any ursine that is truly remaining in your bladder or you are just feeling that symptom. Discuss also with your spine surgeon and possibly get repeat lumbar spine MRI with contrast to assess that region. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What could cause excessive bile production, resulting in gastritis/duodenitis? Egd revealed the former. Gastric empty study normal.
Stick with your doc: You are already well down the road to discovering your problem. Sounds like there might be some bile reflux. Controversial topic. Relationship between symptoms and bile reflux is not clear. It is not likely excess bile production that produces gastritis and it is not likely the sole cause of your symptoms. You need a good doc who can explain the details and meaning of your findings. ...Read more
Lacks contrast stuff: The material given to a patient for a bowel imaging study helps show up the entire bowel, such as on the images in an abdominal CT scan. Areas that did not get contrast material can look like they are missing the stuff, and are called unopacified bowel. However, things that prevent contrast from getting in, like a solid lump of poop, a polyp, or a tumor, can also look an area of missing contrast. ...Read more
