Taper less risky: For both Clonazepam and paroxetine, tapering the dose over a 2 week period (sometimes 3) is less risky than stopping abruptly.....Especially the clonazepam. I always taper that one down. Paroxetine is more just to be safe. ...Read more

I started taking sertraline HCl 25 mg friday morning for anxiety today is my third day on the medication I was going to go out with some friends for a?

Not recommended: I wouldn't recommend use of any additional substances -- including alcohol -- if you have anxiety and/or are getting used to a new medication (like sertaline). Sertraline + alcohol can lead to sedation. Also, drinking alcohol itself can lead to anxiety -- depending on how much you drink, your frazzled neurons can fire in disturbed ways while recovering. ...Read more

Ciprofloxacin HCl 500mg, are there any life changing side effects to taking this medication, if so, what? I am 52 years old and in the past week started to experience numbness off and on in the crotch area. Dr. Prescribed this medication. I was told it I

This: This is an antibiotic and it is not clear how it could be related to numbness in the crotch, although medications can affect people differently. If it doesn't clear up please have your doctor see you again. If you have any back pain, numbness, weakness, pain down your legs, or loss of bowel or bladder control, you may have a spine condition and would need to be seen as an emergency. ...Read more

When would flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) be indicated for migraine treatment? Also, would it be daily dosing or a prn medication?

Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl): Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) is a muscle relaxant & would be used if the migranes were being triggered by muscle tension which is uncommon since most migraines are vascular in nature. I would think if prescribed for migraines it would be prn but there are better choices if you have true migraine headaches that could prevent or treat them. ...Read more

I recently discovered I take three medications that metabolize by the same liver enzyme, paroxetine 20mg, wellbutrin300mg, risperidone. 75mg for 3 yea?

Med interactions: Medications taken together can have interactions with each other, in part because of what you noted--being metabolized by the same liver enzyme. These interactions can have the results of making medications either stronger or weaker (depending on the specific interaction). I would base the evaluation on whether the medications are addressing the symptoms--if not, you should let your doctor know. ...Read more

Varies, but 4-6 wks: Many say it works quickly, but some of that is likely to be placebo effect. Each person may have a different reaction but many describe 4-6 weeks as a time frame to evaluate it. Changes in dose can also hit the target. Work with your doctor over the next months. Also, consider cbt psychotherapy as a way to learn skills that will help for other concerns too. I started taking sertraline HCl 25mg friday morning for anxiety. It's my third day on the medication. Is it safe to have a few drinks? My doc said yes

"A few" = how many?: First, consider why you doubt your physician's advice. Next -- regarding the safety of "a few" drinks, it depends on the quantity you mean. I wouldn't recommend drinking at all while getting used to sertraline, as adding alcohol can lead to more sedation than expected. Also, drinking alcohol can itself lead to anxiety -- especially in hangovers when your irritable neurons are trying to recover. ...Read more

Maybe: It sounds like there are a lot of converging factors in your situation and I am not ruling out endocrinological contribution to your symptoms although I would point out that the side effect profile of paroxetine is important to acknowledge in your situation. On paroxetine alone patients can feel lethargic. And then add Clonazepam and the side effects could be amplified. Talk to your doctor! ...Read more
