Parasite Worm Identification
Strongly recommend: Medical assessment and treatment.Get a more detailed answer ›
Just few examples..: Intestinal parasitic infections can often be diagnosed by examining the stool for eggs and parasites under a scope. Other parasitic infections i.e. Cutaneous larvae migran as pictured here--no testing needed! Trichinosis is an infection with larvae of a roundworm trichinella spiralis from infected-uncooked pork. This needs muscle biopsy. If u have trouble/concern, consult doc. Good luck.
What are some of the symptoms of parasites such as tapeworms and other types of worm parasites in humans?
Which ones?: You'd need to diagnose them first. In general, people who think they have "worms/parasites/toxins" generally don't.
Formication: The sensation of crawling is well defined in the medical literature and it is not the sign of worms or parasites (delusional parasitosis). Please talk to your physician about this condition.
No: Don't kiss the person on their rear end. Otherwise you're fine. Many people are told they have "worms" / "parasites" by "independent medical thinkers" when they actually don't. And if a person is diagnosed with a particular worm or eukaryotic parasite, usually treatment is sijmple. Best wishes.
Hi, I am so worried about having parasites like tape worms in me! I don't know what to do. I heard that most docotros misdiagnose it? How do I know?
Parasites: Your best bet would be to get evaluation by you doctor. A thorough history about any possible exposures or travel and examination and testing would find out if a person had been infected. Family doctors, gastroenterologist and infectious disease specialists would be a good place to start. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, upset stomach and change in the bowels. May see worms in the stool.
Can SSRI syndrome seem like symptoms of another disease? I'm afraid I have celiac or worms/parasites but I randomly stop taking my meds a lot.
Your medications: Are not listed but randomly stopping psychiatric medications or other serotonergic drugs can not only cause symptoms but can endanger your health. People who randomly start and stop their medications are like people who play Russian Roulette. Both are dangerous practices.
Why do parasites appear in your body? Where do they come from? For example, how do intestinal worms go inside the intestines without consuming them?
Get in...: One way or another. Eat the eggs or worm covers most. Hookworm gets in through the skin.
Travel: If you did not travel to any place outside the US, you do not have worms in your stool. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
I have a pic of a worm on my face I need to get identified. Its a parasite I've been carrying for a year?
In-person eval: Parasitic worms should be evaluated with in-person evaluation not by submitting a photo. By the way, we can not see your photo as your question was posted on the section of healthtap that is designed for medical education (not treatment).
Would parasites or worms be obvious in 2 year olds stool? Sometimes I find thread like pieces. Is it food? Would they move? Blood? Any other symptoms?
Usually not obvious: Pinworms are fairly common in this age group. They are small white worms that come out of the anus at night.. If you suspect piworms wait until dark when the child is asleep. Then take a flashlight and check your child's anal area. If you see small thread like wiggleing white things, call your doctor. This not a emergency but as a parent it is upsetting.
Absolutely: Parasites like intestinal worms can cause anemia, usually by causing bleeding into the gut. Chronic infections can also cause anemia through low blood production, not active bleeding. However, this is less commonly the reason for anemia associated with worms and parasites.See 1 more doctor answer
