Freezing cold swollen numb & painful to touch temporarily paralyzed & bruised coloured wrist & no injury. docs have seen it and say its just my Fibro?

CTS/ other Dx: It doesn't sound like fibromyalgia from your description. Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion. You may need nerve conduction velocity/electromyogram studies to rule out peripheral neuropathy and imaging like an xray for a start and labwork. It may be carpal tunnel syndrome whicg is often associated with fibromyalgia. Try wearing a splint on your wrist to restrict repetitive flexion/extension. ...Read more

My beau is a type 2 diabetic. He had an episode where his right hand was having spasms and seemed to be paralyzed .

A # of possibilities: A transient episode of cramping and spasm can be something benign and no cause for concern, such as a reaction to overuse, an electrolyte imbalance or a medication side-effect. Without additional history or an exam i couldn't say whether its something more ominous such as impending stroke. Because of his risk factors he should she his pcp as soon as possible. ...Read more

Do you consider a person who has paralyzed their dominant arm from the shoulder down to the hand to be disabled?

Do you consider a person who has paralyzed their dominant arm from the shoulder down to the hand to be disabled?

Yes, no, maybe: "Disabled" has many different meanings, depending on exactly what the question is asking about. There are no perfect humans, which means everyone has some sort of disability or handicap. Of course, we can't call everyone disabled or else the word would become meaningless. Losing use of an arm is a huge handicap but whether or not "the person is disabled" depends on the question's specific details. ...Read more

How can I strengthen my wrists?

How can I strengthen my wrists?

Resistance training: Using either weights or resistance bands to create tension in both the flexor and extensor muscles repetitively is a good method of strengthening the wrists. My preferred method is using resistance bands to do isometric strengthening exercises - i.e. Create tension in the wrist then hold for 10+ seconds, repetitively. (www.Chrisohmd.Com). ...Read more
