If I have an enlarged heart due to hypertension along with angina, palpitations and breathlessness, does this mean I have heart disease?

If I have an enlarged heart due to hypertension along with angina, palpitations and breathlessness, does this mean I have heart disease?

Yes.: All heart disease is not created equal, however. Generally, when we talk about heart disease we are speaking if coronary artery disease, which at your tender years, you don't have. You could have a congenital cardiomyopathy or a viral cardiomyopathy of myopathy based on essential hypertension. An enlarged heart and high blood pressure is "heart disease". Talk with your cardiologist for clarifying. Read more

Look elsewhere: You seem hung up on cardiac causes but you haven't said anything about consultation with a gastroenterologist to look at your esophagus. Esophageal spasm can mimic angina and can even get better with nitroglycerin. You should also consider whether or not this is an anxiety or panic attack. Read more

My hb has been 7 or 8g/l for the last 3 months or so. I have been experiencing a lot of breathlessness, palpitations and left side chest pain?

Anemia: You seem to have quite a profound anemia and may need to have a blood transfusion. Go to an er and get evaluated there. You are on iron so it seems that even with iron supplementation, you can't raise you hemoglobin. In the er, they can make sure you aren't losing blood either in your GI tract or your menses by excessive bleeding. Another cause could be that your bone marrow isn't making red cells. Read more

No: Heart failure is a clinical (bedside) diagnosis. Symptoms are Shortness of breath on exertion and swelling of the ankles. The signs are elevated jugular venous pressure, rales in lungs, liver enlargement, and pitting edema. The objective tests are BNP blood test and chest Xray. The tests you mention may indicate heart problems but they do not diagnose heart failure. Read more

I've got a ectopic heart rhythm (extra beat).Suffering with bad palpitations all day +heart pain+breathless+weakness +sweaty. Is this normal?

Basically yes: Ectopic heart beats are very common and rarely dangerous. Some people feel them like you do, others don't feel them at all. An ectopic beat can cause sudden chest discomfort, out of breath, and fatigue. Medications like propranolol can decrease the extra heartbeats. Avoid chocolate, caffeine, stimulants, alcohol.
