Carpal tunnel or...: It is possible that you may have carpal tunnel syndrome or early arthritis at the base of the thumb. It's also very possible that muscle fatigue because you normally don't use that muscle much and suddenly you force that muscle into working hard, it can be easily fatigued due to lack of conditioning. Hand cramps: Apologetically, i can't picture where ur hand is cramping. Ex: of some causes... Carpal tunnel: leads to weakness/ burning/ numb/ crampy in thumb & pointer +/ - middle. "ulnar" tunnel same but opp side hand. If after carrying, can be nml response. May be from leaning on nerve at elbow. May be a "contracture." dupuytrenes is one ex. If it persists see ur doc.
