They are usually pea sized at rest and enlarged when stimulated by bug bites, dermatitis, drainage or infection. Lymph node: You might be describing occipital lymph nodes which drain the scalp. They could get enlarged if you have any sores or infection of your scalp. Usually not a cause of worry unless it persists without evidence of infection/irritation. ...Read more

Get it checked : Out asap. It is less likely to be a bone tumor but more likely related to lymph node, which could be as significant as a lymphoma. Although this is a less typical location. Get it eval by your PCP and you may also need an excision biopsy. ...Read more

Ok: Could be a cyst. If it is painless i would follow up with the doctor to see what the best imaging test is indicated. If it's just a cyst you may not need any testing this observation. ...Read more
